Re: The Weather is Here TUESDAY@ the MSC

The ute is unpacked. The bug out bags are empty. Most of N.E. New South Wales is still burning, but we dodged it yesterday. And all our wonderful politicians did was offer "thoughts and prayers", not much help against a firestorm. Now all they're doing is having a shouting match about how we ...

Re: Veterans' Day MONDAY@ the MSC

So far, so good. 05:45 AM No fires in the district yet. Eerily quiet, the morning peak traffic should be building now but isn't. Vehicles are packed. Had a spanner thrown in the works yesterday the generator (which runs the water pump in an emergency) developed an oil leak. Too late to do anything a...

Hi All, We're packing bug out bags and packing the vehicles. The entire Sydney area (and more) has had an Emergency declared and we are under a Catastrophic Fire Danger Warning. (http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fdr-and-tobans?a=1421) There is currently no active fires in this part of the ...

Hi All, Well I guess an update from the Gates of Hell is due. Keep in mind it is only the middle of spring, summer hasn't raised from it's slumber yet. The bill for the last 24 hours: 2 confirmed dead. 7 unaccounted for. 150 homes lost. We are a long way from having this under control. That's just i...

Re: Just Another Thursday @ the MSC

Well the boredom is gone. Half the state is under bush fire threat (not here yet). 15 declared emergency warning fires as a part of over 100 running wild fires. Unprecedented! And it's only the middle of spring. Anyhoo, I spent some time jiggering with the fire fighting generator and pump, so boredo...

Re: Just Another Thursday @ the MSC

To quote Iggy Pop: "I'm bored; I'm Chairman of the Bored." I am doing work for a different division. I am updating 16 technical manuals for a new maintenance routine. Easy enough, except I've found a bunch of errors, omissions and a heap of grammatical stuff ups. It appears that their system has no ...

Hiya Rabz! Egging houses is a time honored act of vandalism here. Why stores sell eggs to teens is beyond me. I have posted this before, but here's a good one. In the rural town where I now live, my grandparents were besieged with a nasty Halloweens trick. Boys ran through the back yards, tipping o...

Oh my <insert your deity of choice here>! The Americanised version of Halloween is being adopted here in Oz. While I understand the commercial side of it, I mean why wouldn't business try to drag every last cent out of it? Our neighbour has gone halloween mad, so there were many many children going ...

Well I know this may be confusing, but "Happy Bathurst Weekend!!!"

It is the weekend of the best motorsport event, on the planet, ever. The Bathurst 1000. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathurst_1000

We're strapped in to the couch for a weekend of high-octane TV watching.

Hiya Rabz! I haven't smoked meat, but a friend does a great dry rub on chicken and pork. He bought a smoker on a trailer to do outdoor vents. I'll ask him about lamb and corn. I don't think he's done them. Any tips & tricks gratefully accepted!!! Did some charcoal grilled patties (rissoles) for lun...

Re: SUNDAY Funday @ the MSC

Hi All, Well the racks of lamb ribs were tasty as, but geez, as they were spring lambs, the fat made them very rich and very very filling. We had a reasonably sweet slaw with them, a vinaigrette slaw would have been better to cut through. The smoked corn cobs were a delight! Labour Day holiday Monda...

It's the Labour Day Long Weekend here in Oz (well most of Oz).

On Friday it was about 92°F, yesterday it was 64°F with about half an inch of rain.

I hope today is better as I want to play with my brand new smoker. Who knew that this smoking meats could be so addictive?

Well, the day surgery is over the "long black snake" (endoscope) has been used and is now in the cupboard for another 5 years. Had a nice sleep while they violated me :o :o :) :D  Initial results are nada, zip, zilch found. A couple of biopsies were done (I think just so I could be charged for ...
