Re: Gift Card SATURDAY @ the MSC

I've been looking to get a new piece of luggage. I have a large suitcase which I rarely use because I don't take a lot of long trips. I have my duffle bag which I use almost all the time but I have to swing it over my shoulder because it doesn't have wheels. I just bought a 21" American Tourister c...

Re: Gift Card SATRUDAY @ the MSC

Morning All,

I need a coffee. Actually two. I'll start with Doppio Flat White (café au lait) then I'll savour a Doppio Risretto Piccolo Latte.

Anyone know if we have some proper loin bacon? I am starving and that streaky bacon just ain't gonna cut it.

Re: Add to the Songline SATURDAY@ the MSC

Chainsaw and wood chipper day today. Clearing up a bunch of large tree limbs that came down in the wind two nights ago. Very smokey here. Most of the fire grounds are much calmer - the fire teams are taking advantage of cooler and slightly damp conditions to try and get the big fires contained. Seve...

Re: TGIFriday @ the MSC

There was this weird splashing sound in the backyard this morning.

It was water running into the water tank. Not a lot but it sure is a welcome change.

Happy weekend, pholks. :wench: What's happening by you?
Dodging smoke and worrying about friends in the fire areas.

You?

Re: Late Start THURSDAY@ the MSC

Hi there! We get a few small brush fires in the spring when all the dead weeds ignite near someone's burn pile, but that's the extent of fires here. It's just to damp to burn. On a hunt in Colorado, I was surprised every piece of wood burned hot, even laying in the snow. We used to think there are ...

Re: Late Start THURSDAY@ the MSC

If it is shown that the fire was deliberately lit and it resulted in someone dying, then they can be charged with manslaughter. Given the current situation, I imagine the courts will take a dim view of such arson. The 180 cases has been somewhat inflated - many of the cases are not arson but neglige...

It rains too much in Seattle? Hah! They just released 2019 climate statistics that show that the U.S. in total received an average of 34.78 inches of rain, the second wettest on record and 4.5 inches above normal. Seattle had 33.88 inches, 3.61 inches below the average of 37.49 inches. We had 141 d...

Hi All, Now, I don't want to alarm you but this clear liquid has been falling from the sky. I think I remember that happening before but it may have been a dream. :o :D I grabbed an umbrella on my way out the door - then realised I can't quite remember how to use one.   Not enough ra...

Hi All, It reached a smidge under 113°F here yesterday, with single digit humidity. Another suburb of Sydney hit 120°F. Today is milder. While Sydney was spared other parts of the south-east aren't so lucky. Many areas still under emergency warning so the extent of the damage is unknown but it isn't...

Re: First Friday of 2020 @ the MSC

Hi All, Well Armageddon Saturday is here. The south-east corner of the country is gearing up for a fight. Unfortunately that fight will not be to extinguish the fires as that is impossible, the fight will be to stop loss of life. Great swathes of the country have been evacuated, a lot of these areas...

Re: 1st THURS of 2020 @ the MSC

Thanks M59, We are in a pretty good place compared to many. We have some buffer between us and the proper bushland - in most cases I would say we are defendable, but given some of the fires in Victoria and the NSW south coast I am not stupid enough to stake my life on it :) Suffice it to say the bug...

(((Rabz))) - do you have an evacuation plan?
It's a conditional plan.

We have a couple of ways to head out so it all depends on conditions and fire direction.

It also depends on the fire conditions - stay and fight is still (an ever-diminishing) option.

Re: 1st THURS of 2020 @ the MSC

Morning all. Well it must be getting serious, my company has told everyone in NSW (where I live) to stay home and prepare. The gubbermint has declared a state of emergency for the entire state. I am not so worried as it seems to me there isn't much left to burn (I don't actually mean that) but I gue...

Hi LR,

It's not too bad right where we are. In fact, in comparison to some places it is quite good.

It's very smokey right now, but no fire threats here at the moment. We have a couple of days of cooler weather but it ramps up again Saturday.

Have a great day!!!
