Re: Another clip about Margaritavile

It is compressed. Baez's cover was released in August of 1971. Jimmy writing for a magazine and working on songs is in that time frame, 1970. Baez's album was a double album so it's possible some of it was recorded in 1970.

Re: Radio Margaritaville

Perhaps it's a matter of how things have changed. When RM came out it was fantastic. That was quite some time ago. I hear it occasionally at a bar/restaurant and it drives me crazy half the time. It might be easier to develop your own radio station with Pandora ie thumbs down to Brown Eyed Girl, Che...

Re: Margaritaville audience participation history

Having a discussion with my brother and others about the history of audience participation in Margaritaville. He and I both remember concerts where the audience would yell "shake it baby. Ooh! Shake it baby." After the lost shaker of salt lyric. Of course now it's "salt salt salt&quo...

Re: What is the WORST Jimmy Buffett song?

I tend to think of "worst" or "bad" songs as ones that make me cringe - and nothing from the 1970s makes me cringe. Not so for the 1980s (Good Fight, It's My Job, Livin' It Up, a lot of songs from Last Mango In Paris, If It All Falls Down), 90s, 20000s or 10s (all recently liste...

I've never heard or read that in my life - ever. I was at the show where the salt chant started and thought it was funny at the time.

Re: What is the WORST Jimmy Buffett song?

I'll give you a few: Math Suks, You Call it Jogging, Permanent Reminder of a Temporary Feeling and Homemade Music. And don't get me started on the new Christmas album, ugh. I could go on but why dwell on 1% bad when there's 99% great? Weird. You list one song that suks (ha ha) but the rest of them ...

Re: What is the WORST Jimmy Buffett song?

Without a doubt, the worst is "She's Got You." "Math Suks" may be silly and dumb, but at least it's not butchering someone else's classic. Among Buffett originals? Probably "Chill the Rose" or "We're Still Here" (although I guess the latter doesn't count here...

Re: What is the WORST Jimmy Buffett song?

Creole is nowhere near the worst. Worst implies skipping it or changing the station when it comes on. I don't mind creole one bit. "Turn Up the Heat, Chill the Rosé" would probably have my vote. Either that or "Too Drunk to Karaoke." Vampires, Mummies And The Holy Ghost is bad, ...

Re: Margaritaville at JACK Cincinnati Casino closing April 23

For the most part, the M'ville food sucks. It's designed to be able to be made fast, get out the kitchen fast, eaten fast, and turn the table over. More turns/more money. I go to the M'ville in Myrtle Beach periodically only because I sometimes stay in the hotel next door for work. I do like the JB...

Re: Don't Stop The Carnival

It's interesting in one way that he stuck to a musical theme, as musicals generally have a similar melody throughout songs, as Green Flash is a great example of (and why it wasn't recorded and included on the album makes zero sense since it's so short). An article about the album. https://dctheatres...

Oh wow.

That's... thanks.

So weird how something can't be heard because of trying to hard to understand instead of just... listening. Because, of course, now I hear it.

Re: Don't Stop The Carnival

I enjoyed the book and the album. It's still a mystery to me why people don't like the album. It has one great song (Island Fever) on it and a few really good songs (Kinja/Norman Paperman, Time To Go Home, A Thousand Steps To Nowhere, Up On The Hill). So it's essentially a soundtrack to the play but...
