Re: old buffett video

Just to clarify my post here. The film "tarpon" has been (re)available for some time. Is a great film, has some great Key West footage and is worth seeing even if you don't enjoy chasing tarpon. What I was refering to was the article's reference of a seperate film that Buffett did for PBS ...

http://www.midcurrent.com/articles/people/cutchin_valdene_2.aspx Has anyone seen the video referenced in article in above link? I have never heard of it. Buffett eats his words on growing old

I just re-read the high times JB interview from 1976. Willing to bet that today he has a different view on what constitues growing old! High Times: Would you like to retire say at 65 and go into rumrunning or some other kind of activity with a boat? Buffett: Oh, that's what I'll do. I'll go down to ...

Re: Portugal?

I worked in portugal for a summer durring business school. I would recomend it as a great place to rent a car and travel the coast. Very inexpensive, good food, beautiful little fishing villiges and plenty of coast to explore. I prefer the coast of Spain to the north of Portugal all the way to the B...

Buffett back with Liz Clark on break from Swell Voyage

http://www.swellvoyage.com/
Buffett re-connected with Liz this fall. Her post is mid way down. Earlier this year Buffett met up with her in French Polonesia for a surf session (she subsequently posted some pics on that as well).

Re: What JB song really 'speaks to you' about your life & dreams

Wow bonefish, your comments on CITJ match my feelings perfectly (allthough I would like to find a way to include the wife and kid). I used to listen to this song when I was younger in the 80/90's and loved it but didn't really understand it. Was listening to it about 6-7 years ago and went "cli...

Re: Laid-back beach area on west coast of Florida?

My vote is Boca Grande all the way. This is the town on Gasparilla island. Hoot was filmed on the island and many of Buffett's fishing buddy's are locals of the island.

Those crowds are unfortunate to hear about. There was a time when I could go over and the only people other than the locals in town would be Jimmy himself. Eversince the "FastFerry" came to town, H.I. is begining to feel like Nassau East....time to look toward the Southern Bahamas...the go...

Re: Eleuthera

One last must have. If you have time in Governors Harbour do yourself a favor and eat at Tippy's. its on the beach side of town, S of the airport but wel worth the time if you have an afternoon flight. Best restaurant in the Bahamas. Enjoy.

You will have a great time on Hourbour Island Must see's: -A cheeseburger at Ma'Ruby's (for lunch, not dinner). You are staying there so it will be easy to find. It is one of Buffetts top 10. I have tried 7 of the top 10 and this one blows the others away. In fact, I don't understand why some are ev...

Re: Jimmy, Men's Journal, Caribbean Rum

You can just usa an ice pick and poke 2-3 holes in the top, then pour.
Or you can take a heavy long knife (machete) and chop at the top to break the top section off.
Or you do what I did as a kid and bang it on the sidewalk untill it cracks.
Cracking a cocount is kind of like eating shrimp....

Re: Jimmy, Men's Journal, Caribbean Rum

For thos asking about where to find coconut water. The easiest and best is to buy a cocount, crack it open and pour the water into a glass.
Coconuts can be found at most grocery or health food stores accross the country and it tastes much better than the stuff everyone else is reffering too.

Re: Book Club reads

A great recomendation is Wind From the Carolinas by Robert Wilder. This is one of Buffetts favorite books and I think its the best novel ever writen IMHO. Do yourself a favor and give it a read this summer. I have a stack of first editions I use as gifts for friends. Always a much appreciated gift o...
