Re: First Vehicles?

1968 Ford Falcon with an inline 6 and 3 on the tree. I could barely get it up to 60mph on a steep downgrade and a strong tail wind. The heater didn't work but the stereo did and it was built like a tank. Trade it in for 77 Mustang, with a V8, headers and a shift kit. Quick off the line but the top e...

Re: Am I really doing this??

Tiki, I share many of your musical tastes and probably for many of the same reasons. I love well written songs, those that combine terrific lyrics with great melodies. It is one of the reasons why I host house concerts. It is a great way to discover new artists in an intimate setting. I have either ...

Re: Songs From St. Somewhere

I would hope that if it is a new studio album that it would have new songs.

Re: books

Get a copy of Cayman Escape by L. Neyl Rietchck. It is a fun romp with lots of twists and turns.

I understand that the author is working on the sequel.

It reminds me of Morris's Nightmare, only instead of a tacky cruise ship it will be a vacation club.

Re: New England direction Niagara Falls

Don't forget that most of the stuff to do at Niagara is on the Canadian side of the falls, so you will need your passport to take the Maiden of the Mist or do the hike behind the falls.

Re: Alcohol soaked fruit ?

I always soak strawberries in brandy for 24 hours. Then I mix it with champagne and 7-up and serve over ice. It is a wonderful party drink.

Re: The Vast Recorded Legacy of the Grateful Dead

This is a great article and a very nice discussion. I saw my first Dead show in 78 and my last 3 at the start of the 95 tour, which happened to be 3 shows at the Delta Center in SLC. It also happened to be the last tour due to Jerry Garcia's death. Over the years, I probably saw upwards of 70 shows....

Re: 2013 Trop Rock Cruises?

If you paid with a credit card, contact your issuer immediately and deny the charges because they are not delivering the promised goods or services. If the credit card company balks, deny the charges because they don't have an imprint of your card, with your signature, nor have they swiped the card ...

Re: I'm Gonna Live My Life Like a Jimmy Buffett Song

I don't know anything about that one. Sorry. I did just finish reading Cayman Escape by L. Neyl Rietcheck. It has some elements that are Buffett related/inspired. It is a nice page turner, with lots of twists and turns.

Re: Songs We May Never Know By Heart

I think that some of the songs from the early albums were played live at a number of shows however given that many of the shows at that time were in bars and the live, no one has a set list.

Sign me up! There is one risk that I see in this trip and that is that I may opt to just stay put for the rest of my days.

Re: Salt, Salt, Salt......

I started it in my living room on July 23, 1986. I was being closely observed in a witness protection program at the time and I'm pretty sure the CIA saw me doing it and said, "Hey, that's freaking cool. Let's call Mr. Buffett." So they called Jimmy and said, "There is this goofy chi...

Re: Airbnb experiences?

Airbnb has some great points and some really bad ones. On the plus side, when things work well, it is a wonderful experience. I have a friend who runs a beautiful B&B and gets all of her bookings via AirBnB and her guests are always thrilled with her place. On the negative side, when things aren...

Re: Should I Be Worried?????

From 79 to 05, I saw a minimum of two shows a year and generally got in one or two more most years, with a couple of years with four or five. Since 05 it's been one or since 08 zero shows a year. Given that I generally go to Vegas for a show, the weekend will run between $1500 and $2000 and for that...

Re: Civil War - 150th Anniversary

Have any of you (I am assuming yes but going to ask anyway) read the Shelby Foote three volume account of the Civil War? Very fascinating read and great detail too. Not only read it, discussed it with Shelby Foote, the Delta reservation agent (the author's daughter) and with the author himself. I w...

I haven't been able to use the WMP for a while and the Adobe Flash player crashes every 2 to 3 hours. I now live the page open so that I close the pop up, then click on the link and I'm back in action.
