Re: Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon 2009

They have both the half marathon and full. The half marathon is 13.1 miles (a little over 21 km), the full is 26.2 miles (a little over 42 km). The half will be Saturday and the full Sunday (and there are some people who do both!). Disney's support comes in the form of hosting the event and giving t...

Re: Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon 2009

I'll look for you, but since TEAM is the biggest charity there, I may not see you. We'll be in lime green. I think Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (a.k.a. Run for our Sons) is a distant second to the purple people.

Re: Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon 2009

Looks like I may be one of only a few BNers in it this year, since this hasn't turned into a mega-thread like last year (complete with mini-phlocking at Margaritaville Orlando). I hate to beg, but I need to. Fundraising has been ridiculously slow this year. Even my biggest donor from last year has y...

My first concert was AC/DC's Back in Black tour in Montreal, Canada. I, and 2 friends snuck across the border into Canada to see it ( we were all 16 and they wouldn't let us go across the border without an adult) so we drove out of town and found a back road into Canada :o Since then I've seen most...

Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon 2009

Okay, so I'm going to get this started this year. BN had a pretty good turnout last year, and I know the boards here raised a lot of money for various BNers participating. Once again my wife and I will be participating in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon on Saturday January 10, and we are raising...

Maybe they should've made it into a van, and tried to sneak it over that way.

They could hire two bewildered stoners to drive it. Maybe one of Hispanic decent and one of mixed Asian descent.

I thought A Salty Piece Of Land needed an editor. Badly. I agree, Larry. ASPoL desperately needed an editor, and his reliance on inside jokes was overwhelming at times (could just be because I'm a bit of a music geek). Swine Not was better, but I think part of the reason it was better was because h...

I like the old one too. Putting Jimmy on the cover has me concerned that they are relying on his name recognition to sell the book, and the content may not be up to par. It seems especially odd given that this is intended for younger audiences who are less likely to recognize him. Now if the old one...

Re: being let go

the article mentions an underling did the letting go on Randy... i know for a fact of a certain coral reefer of MANY years standing, who wrote some very popular songs with Jimmy, that was let go with only an unannounced letter saying 'that's all folks'. WHAM BAM! bidness is bidness? who knows. Wasn...

I am shamelessly bumping this back up, as it is for a good cause, and the race is tomorrow! If you haven't given to one of the other teams, or have some leftover Christmas cash that you want to do something good with, please make a donation (all sizes accepted) to our team. Examples of excellent rea...

Thanks so much. Our page is http://www.parentprojectmd.org/goto/the_johnsons and we are participating in honor of my cousin Jordan who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. There's lots of info on our page, so if anyone can help, that would be awesome!

Can you help?

I know it's been a while since I posted, but I'm in the process of raising money for muscular dystrophy research as part of participating in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon.

Is it cool to post a link here, or would that be inappropriate?

Thanks

Please, I'm trying to ignore that Jimmy is a Gator fan. It's bad enough that he referred to Steve Spurrier as "one of my heroes" at the Columbia show a couple of years ago, I don't need to be reminded. (Yes, my parents went to Florida State and Miami).

They won't consider Floridays because of this line, "I'm back a livin' Floridays, Blue skies and Ultraviolet rays, Looking for better days." You don't want a state song that implies everyone here wants something better (even if the intention is that they came here to find better days). Tin...

There's an article in this morning's Wall Street Journal about old bands getting back together. It mentioned Van Halen and said their guarantee is $850,000/show. I wonder how expensive the tickets will be. As I understand it it's going to be an amphitheater tour, so you assume 20,000 for a sell-out...
