This board is awfully negative for Parrotheads. :) No tailgating sucks, but Jimmy clearly views playing at Wrigley as a dream come true.
But how many times can that dream come true?

Weird that neither of the two traditional epicenters of Parrothead fandom (Atlanta and Cincinnati) got a Saturday show. Scheduling conflicts?
Neither did Boston. In all but one year since the early 1990's he has played on a weekend in the Boston area.

Re: Mohegan Sun 2018

I think one reason Mohegan Sun gets skipped is the size of the venue. Look where he's playing this year - Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, the 4 shows with the Eagles are all in stadiums. If I'm not mistaken, Mohegan's seating capacity is less than Jones Beach, which is the smallest venue he plays on a ...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

Hasn't he been having trouble selling out a Saturday show at Great Woods the last couple of years? No way a Thursday show at Fenway sells out. Yes. The last few year's they sold some of the upper corner pavilion seats at lawn prices as the show got closer due to lackluster sales. He did sell out ea...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

^^ And ticket prices will be crazy, add in parking (unless you use public transport), pre-concert bar tabs, and hotel it'll be cheaper to drive to another venue. I am sure I'll be getting my Red Sox season ticket presale email soon. He is overdue for a Mohegan Sun stop and Saturday the 11th would be...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

Any chance of two shows, Thursday and Saturday? Not at Fenway, already another concert schedule for the 11th, Def Leopard/Journey. They somehow get a Saturday show in Boston  From Virginia, Buffett will make their way up the east coast so one of more of these stops; Atlantic City, Woodstock, J...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

Heard yesterday that early August was the likely choice. The odds of me going to see him at Fenway were pretty low as it was, now with it being a Thursday show it is almost null. That would mean two days out of work. Maybe this means a closer Saturday show will be added? Jones beach, Mohegan, Bangor...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

Heard tonight that offically Buffett will be at Fenway Park in 2018 from a ticket agent (aka scalper) who deals with Ace Ticket often. He wasn't 100% of the date but said he heard the week of July 15th or early August. He was certain it wouldn't be in June. He said they already have tickets committe...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

I think Fenway Park is still very likely. And FWIW the cheapest ticket for Pearl Jam at Fenway Park is $110. This is the cost after all the fees are added in.

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

When Fenway Park was granted a permit to start having concerts it was on a trial basis and only 2 per year. That changed after a couple of years and they were allowed to have more based on the positive feedback/limited noise from the ballpark bothering the neighborhood. They can now have up to 8 sho...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

Tryin' to reason with concert announcement season
Denver 6/28
Minn 6/30
Camden 7/5
Pitt 7/7
Chicago 7/13

Seems to make sense at least one more show added between Pitt and Chicago but it won't be Fenway because the Red Sox are home that week.

Indy? Cincy? Jones Beach?

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

Saw the Alpine news but it doesn't make sense. They need Wrigley to sell and Alpine and Wrigley are 90 miles apart so they are pulling from the same area. If they announce an Alpine show in the near future Wrigley would really be hard pressed to sell tickets because given the choice most would go to...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

Announced today Buffett in Pitt on 7/7 so that takes away any Fenway Park show that weekend. Also announced Virginia on Aug 4th so an August leg will be added. July 20th still a possibility for a Fenway show with the FooFighters already scheduled for two shows the next two days.

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

No chance they do a concert on July 4th, the city would never allow that to happen. With the fireworks and all day festivals at the near by the Esplanade that already bring in millions of people public transit and police are already at max capacity. When the Red Sox play at home on July 4th the city...

Re: Alpine Reopening

Everything is negotiable. Each place has their own clauses for shows within a certain radius so I doubt it is Jimmy Buffett clause he puts in himself. The Wrigley Field people know if he was doing both Apline and Wrigley this summer Wrigley would struggle to fill half their seats. In other areas he...

Re: Alpine Reopening

I think there’s still hope for Alpine. There’s no way he’s going to draw 43,000 at Wrigley on a Friday. It’s certainly not going to pull in the Wisconsin crowd and it’s not going to pull in the Chicago crowd who will make the drive to Alpine anyway. July 14th at Wrigley is Def Leppard/Journey. They...

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

Ugg. This opens up a real chance of a Friday, July 20th Fenway show. Foo Fighters are at Fenway 7/21 & 22 and it is the week of the all star game so plenty of time to get Fenway Park ready, the Sox don't play there again until the 26th. He almost never does one-off shows in the summer so there will ...

Re: Alpine Reopening

Wrigley show is not great news for Alpine. The prior two times he played Wrigley he skipped Alpine. I also recall reading that per the contract with Wrigley he couldn't play in another venue in a certain radius and Apline was in that radius.

Re: Fenway 2018 (ugh)

I'd be surprised if he played at Fenway July 7th, as Tom said it's too close to the next Red Sox home game and that weekend is the defacto July 4th weekend.

Sept 1st seems more logical with the promo that he returns to the area for the Labor Day weekend show.
