Re: RIP Ralph MacDonald

Sail on, Ralph. My wife and I had the pleasure of spending about 20 minutes chatting with Ralph backstage in Raleigh in 2009. Truly one of the kindest, gentlest souls we have ever met. He remembered seeing us at the Beachbomber event earlier in that year and we talked about everything from music to ...

Re: JB on the new ZBB album

Yep, that's it. Didn't know it had been talked about on here before. If you have the song on in the background, you probably won't notice it. I have ear buds in most of the time at work and had to listen to it a couple of times to make sure it was Jimmy. Didn't know AJ was also on there. I downloade...

JB on the new ZBB album

Ok, I never saw a post on this, so I will toss is out for some Monday fun and trivia. Forgive me if this has been mentioned.... As we know, Jimmy sings on Knee Deep on ZBB's "You Get What You Give". Anyone know the other song he makes an appearance on?? Hint, he isn't singing, but it is a ...

Re: Your First Buffett Show

Very fun topic!! My first JB show was in the summer of '93 on the Chameleon Caravan Tour in Raleigh. I had just gotten hooked on his music the winter before in Boone, NC. I HATE cold and snow and was miserable and a buddy handed me Songs You Know by Heart and I was hooked. I remember going with frie...

Re: Spring cleaning, find.

Very nice! You have the second one I have ever seen. The first one is the one I have now that was 'permanently borrowed' from the dad of a college roommate years ago. For years, we'vs had it hanging in one of the kids rooms in a frame. We took it with us to Wakiki last year for the Beachcomber show ...

Re: What was your most favorite Buffett show ever?

Without a doubt, the show for Landshark getaway winners last year at the Beachcomber. My wife and I were right in front of Jimmy with nothing between us but a row of peace lillys as a 'barrier'. Having met Jake earlier in the day and seen Jimmy on the Wakiki beach that morning just added to it. On s...

Re: Who is Charleston?

Not sure about how they met, but Charleston told my wife and me that he had been with Jimmy for 20 or 21 years when we talked with him in Raleigh. We lucked out with pre-concert backstage in Raleigh and we started chatting with him about the Beachcomber show, so I asked how long he had been with Jim...

Re: A FEW PICS FROM PITTSBURGH

Kind of off topic but.... Mark G, I would recommend the Beachcomber. It was nice, clean, right on the main drag of Wakiki, and you are across from a cut-through to the beach. We were on the 3rd floor on the ocean side of the building. It was cool b/c you could look down on the street and it was righ...

Re: Nervous About Backstage Passes Help!!!

We have met Mac, Jake, Ralph, and Nadirah. Mac struck me a actually kind of shy condiering his line of work, but he was out beside the stage in Charlotte a couple of years ago. Like someone mentioned, most people walked by and didn't know who he was. Nadirah stopped for a quick moment for a picture ...

Re: A FEW PICS FROM PITTSBURGH

Charleston is a jam up guy. My wife and I talked to him some backstage before this years Raleigh show and he is very friendly as long as everyone follows the rules. He said he remembers seeing us in Wakiki at the Beachcomber. THAT was cool to hear! But yeah, you don't want to make him mad. Said he h...

Re: KIDS TO BUFFETT??

I will toss in my 2 cents as we took our two boys to the Charlotte show this year. They are 8 and 5. Our 8 yr. old, whose name is Cameron (guess where we got that!?!) had actually been to an inside show in tha past and our 5 year old had been asking to go. Since we were going to the 'adults only' sh...

Re: http://jakeshimabukuro.com/

I can say that Jake is one of the nicest, most down to earth people you can meet. My wife and I had the extreme pleasure of meeting him after sound check at the Beachcomber and he was very nice. He took time to pose for a picture and even held the bag while we dug for the camera! Spent about 5 minut...

Re: One man's thoughts on the Raleigh show

Nice story! We were in Raleigh too and there is usually a pretty good crowd there. Last Tuesday, we took our two boys, 7 and 5. It was the 7 year old's second show and the younger one had been wanting to go for a while. Had a spot on the grass just behind the fence separating the seats and grass and...

When we were in Wakiki in in February, we were walking down the beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and Jimmy was putting his tether on his ankle before heading out to surf. Talk about a cool place to see him!!

Hello Parrotheads!! We have made it back from an incredible trip to Hawaii for the Landshark contest and am trying to adjust back to east coast time. Without a doubt, it was one of the best experiences of my life, not only for the concert and small venue, but for all of the things we had from Landsh...

Re: Live Nation ticketing begins 1/1/09. Practice on it !!!!

Hello all, I called Live Nation today to try and find an outlet in the Salisbury/Charlotte area and there are not any. Seems that most of the Blockbusters will be outlets after February, which is zero help. The person I talked to did say you can get them at the respective amphitheatres....along with...

Almost sounds like the guitar came unplugged the way it just dropped off.

Speaking of Pirate..... the best version I saw was Jimmy and Clint Black doing it in Atlanta a few yearts ago just after Fingers had left. Nothing at all against the sax, but IMHO, the harmonica was meant for that song.
