I've been curious about this for a long time, and anyone from either side or the middle can answer this: What does "winning" in Iraq mean? We're not fighting a country or organized group that could formally surrender to us. The enemy is likely a variety of different nationalities (Iranian,...

Re: How commercial can Buffett get?

Those products are what enables him to continue going to the places and having the adventures that influence you. (Emphasis added) That's the bottom line. He's always said "I'm spending YOUR money foolishly." Artists, whether they be novelists, musicians, whatever, entertain you with THEI...

I have a new model VW Beetle, and the manual says you have to take it to the dealer to get the headlight bulb changed! That sounded insane, but I called the dealership and they said it would take an hour and cost $100. I searched the Web and found step-by-step instructions on how to do it, bought th...

Maybe something by Jim Croce: Roller Derby Queen, or One Less Set Of Footsteps.

Or Spooky by Classics IV.

Or Mexicali Blues or Fire on the Mountain by the Grateful Dead.

Sounds like he hasn't heard of Buffett's previous novel, or his collection of short stories. (I'm not going to slam the guy for not liking Buffett's music or accompanying "culture." He's welcome to his opinion, just like I'm welcome to my opinion of his band. We can agree to disagree, espe...

Look at it this way, either the donations are paying for a Buffett concert that we won't be allowed to attend, or for another negative attack ad that we'll be forced to watch. While I'm sorry to miss the concert, I'm not sorry to miss the ad!

Regardless of the person's job, why was the employee allowed to take a laptop with the names and social security numbers of "17.5 million people" home? Seems like a pretty glaring oversight in the security plan. You would think "Don't take sensitive information out of the building&quo...

I'm not trying to pull a Clinton (or a sam) and say I didn't say that, but how are we proposing to regulate it now? Is there a time limit (as in, If you've lived in the country "x" number of years, you won't be caught and shuttled back to the other side)? It doesn't matter how big a wall w...

I'm just glad the Native Americans weren't organized enough to dispel the illegal immigrants when my family came over in the early 1700s. If today's illegal immigrants had only strolled across the border a few hundred years earlier, there wouldn't be this problem. Or if they had chosen to live in th...

Melissa Etheridge, Lover Please

Well looking back through time
You know it's clear that I've been blind
I've been a fool
To ever open up my heart
To all that jealousy, that bitterness, that ridicule

It appears New Hampshire is the only state that does not have some sort of seat belt law:

I'm excited, but only because three African teams (Togo, Ghana, and Ivory Coast) qualified for the first time ever. (I lived in Africa for 3 years.) green1,

The 22nd amendment limits how many times a person may SERVE as president. You can still RUN as many times as you want (look at Lyndon LaRouche!).

Oops, too slow. That's what I get for confirming the spelling of "LaRouche"!
