ALLMAN BROTHERS LIVE CD'S
I got in the mail this week 3 CD's I had ordered from the Allman Bros 2009 spring run at the Beacon Theater and if you are a fan of the ABB you have to check these out. They did 15 shows and since this was their 40th anniversary this years Beacon shows were dedicated to the memory of Duane Allman. E...

Re: The Derek Trucks Band...
Have you seen Clapton's Crossroads Festival 2 DVD? Derek Trucks is amazing on this thing. They do a super version of the Derek & Dominos song "Anyday" and then back Johnny Winter on Highway 61. The cool part is watching Eric Clapton watching from the side of the stage grinning from ear...

Re: CSN carry on with summer tour
Caught their show at Foxwoods (MGM) on saturday, not too bad for a bunch of old farts. Mostly did their 1st album (6 songs) and 4 covers from a new release they are recording after the tour. Great acoustic version of Ruby Tuesday and Dylan's Girl From the North Country. Also did a fair version of Ja...

Re: Loggins/Messina
Up until a few years ago I had only heard a couple of songs by them but when I had XM RADIO the Deep Tracks show played them quite often and I was impressed with the body of their work that I heard. I recommend cherry picking a few songs of theirs off iTunes and see if you like them. The long versio...

Re: J. Geils Band to preform
I saw them in 98 the last time they got back together to tour and they were fantastic. It was very old school with a lot of songs from Full House, Morning After, and Bloodshot. They played Centerfold but it was like they were embarrassed to do it since the Freeze Frame album was so unlike anything e...

You really need to devide Little Feat up into the 2 era's and go from there. The best from the Lowell George era would be Feats Don't Fail Me Now and then Dixie Chicken. The best from the post Lowell period would be Let It Roll and if you can find it the CD Ain't Had Enough Fun. Ain't Had Enough Fun...

XCountry and Deep Tracks were the only 2 stations on XM that I really listened to everyday. Dosen't Sirius have a altcountry/americana station? If so are they making that one available to all? I cancelled my XM about a year ago since I was listening to my iPod more but I alway said I would re-up it ...

Having been an ACDC fan for 30+ years now I like the fact that the one thing you can always count on with any ACDC release is Rock And Roll. They don't mess around with what's popular at the time and experiment with this and that it's always straight ahead Rock and Roll, Period. It was like it on Hi...

The Live CD that came from their last tour together wasn't bad but it was kinda garage band sounding in places. I've always been a Paul Rodgers fan so it was nice to hear the Bad Company and Free songs with Brian May playing guitar. I don't believe John Deacon was part of it just Brian May and Roger...

anyone else got this yet? It's been available on itunes for a couple of weeks now which kinda surprises me that they would have it for download almost 2 months before going on sale in hardcopy. It's not bad, I've never been a big fan of these type of releases where an artist or band brings it a bunc...

I went about 12 or so years ago when it was in Columbia SC and it was pretty cool. It's a long long day since the music will start around noon and run until 11pm or so. You will get 8 or 10 songs from the big 4 and any other big name stars and 3 maybe 4 or 5 songs from all the others. Has anyone hea...

I'm not sure if they are touring together or not with bands. They did a bunch of shows this spring, solo acoustic that from everything I've heard and read were great. I've got tickets to see Lyle with his large band in June and I know Hiatt and his band are scheduled to play a free show at LL BEAN's...

ANYONE SEEN PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE LATELY?
I was wondering if anyone has seen PPL in the last few years. They are playing this summer at a Folk Festival I go to every year in New Hampshire and I'm curious what they are like live now. Since they are the friday night headliner they will probably do a 90 minute set. They released a new CD a cou...

I agree the new CD is a lot less political then his 2 previous ones. Washington Square has some politcal overtones but for the most part it's a story about living in NYC. I think Jerusalem was the CD that turned a lot of his fans off and maybe Steve was just a few years ahead of his time for his own...
