Maybe the group would like to try and get near the Margaritaville Shrimp bus.

They should have RM and other music playing all day and its near the local parrothead club spot.

you should have a smooth ride on 95. only spot in CT is in new haven. Its one of those "backup for no reason areas"

Time from New haven to Mohegan is about 1.5 hours
