What a great article! This was definitely better written than most I've seen (although it's been 3 decades, not 2, since Buffett recorded APLAF).

My favorite non-70's album. My favorite song is the title track, Barometer Soup. Uptempo and just brings back good memories.

Definitely Banana Republic. In fact, I thought it was written by him up until this year.

This is the one song that I skip everytime. I really can't stand it. Sing the song, don't speak it. I feel like I should be snapping my fingers after it's over (think poetry reading, beatnick, etc..) As for EPB, I don't hate it, but it's not one of my favorites. It sounds better sung by Gillian Welch.

I never really considered myself a PHead although most other people did. After reading the nine stages, I am fully at stage 9. I own all the albums and like them for what they are, not what everyone thinks they should be. I realize that people change and so do music tastes and styles. Although the s...

I was listening to an interview the other day with George Jones (I can hear the groans) and he said the reason he wrote so much in his early days was because he was hungry, and when he got successful, he lost his hunger. I think in order to write it, you have to live it. And when you're successful, ...

[quoteWal-Mart is my personal last resort to buy stuff...[/quote] I absolutely hate buying anything at Wal-Mart (Chinatown, since everything's made in China). However, sometimes you have to do things you don't like. And since I wanted the bonus disc, I put on a big floppy hat and dark sunglasses and...

I noticed at his Manassas, Va concert this year that on his finale, APLAF, he sounded really good. Then when I got the chance and listened to it here at home, it really sounded great. He said a few years ago he had to change the way he sang, and it seems to be working for him.

What about saving the chickens and roosters that wonder the island? A few months ago, there was a very serious discussion on whether to kill all of the wild chickens and roosters in KW in the possible case of bird flu. Thankfully, that didn't come to pass. Key West would have become just another ho...

On another note, my wife and I go to the Hemingway house everytime we're in Key West. We've heard the same stories so much that we could probably give the tour. However, one of the reasons we keep returning is the cats. We love the cats. They're well taken care of and lead a much better life than pr...

Anyone who has ever been to the Hemingway house knows that the cats aren't part of a display. They just hang around (it is their house after all). This is just another example of government b.s. at it's finest.
