Clips of both of these were on my answering machine at some point during college.

Since then, I've spent FAR too much time in hotel rooms on business, so this one has some special meaning to me.

My wife and I just got brand new passports for a cruise in a few weeks. She applied on 2/28 and got it in the mail last Friday.

Now, time to start collecting some stamps!

That would be Shelly West (that's one of my favorite karaoke songs ;) )
Thanks!

Another vote for "Floridays"

Every time I hear it, it makes me remember how lucky I am to live in the sunshine, and makes me feel guilty that I think about moving.

Sounds like what a state song should accomplish.

Like several others, I'm an active reader and occasional poster. Last year I bought tickets on the ticket exchange for WPB and Tampa when circumstances dictated a need for tickets at pretty much the last minute. Great transactions, at face, on both occasions. I actually bought more tickets than I th...

As someone else said, fly into Fort Lauderdale rather than MIA. Or, depending on when you're coming, fly into West Palm (PBI) and I'll take you up on that drink if I'm in town :) Lots of cool stuff on the drive down US1, plus it's a ritual you have to engage in at least once. My favorite hotel in KW...

it seems our plan of blocking off the northbound exits from the airport is finally paying off. The beach? Yeah, the best way is to jump on 95 and go south until you see 10th Ave, head straight east. Can't miss it.  Right. Except, here in LW, they got it backwards: You can't get ON 95 Nor...

I feel your pain! In Quebec City (and even Montreal) in the summer, you can hardly move without tripping over gaggles of Americans oohing and ahhing about the "oldness" and "foreignness" of everything. And about that amazingly un-American French! And right now, in British Columb...

I'm guessing you're origianlly from Memphis? No such luck... I was just guessing. I lived in Memphis for six years, and I never saw more clannish "Yankee haters" anywhere. As if THEY had a lot to offer the world. I'm not a teenager and it wasn't an accident that I voted for Buchanan...

OK, I really LOVE Canadians... BUT...

To preface: My wonderful wife is of French-Canadian heritage. Her family is delightful. I've met many, many fine, friendly Canadians over the years... I tried to go to the beach today. It's been FAR too long since I've been, and the past few weeks at work have been more than a little stressful. I ha...

I could be wrong, of course, but I think there are two layers: 1. As stated, the reference to "Groovy" Gray, who passed not long before the song was written; 2. I believe the underlying reference is to Jimmy's relationship with his wife: My "evidence" " There's come a lot of...

The problem is, I can't narrow it to just one... Everytime I go someplace else with a beach, I keep thinking, " I could live here, let's move!" Even though I live in a beach town that I already love, the wife and I are considering relocating next summer. On the not-so-short list of possibl...
