Texas Cookin' and Old No. 1 are two of my favorites but he's one of those artists you can't really go wrong with. There may be songs I like more than others but I don't think he's ever cut a bad song much less a bad album. I'd put John Prine in the same category.FinsUp6835 wrote:Any album recs for Guy Clark?

Of course he doesn't. I seem to remember some quote where he mentioned the Church of Buffett, Orthodox in concert. I believe it was something to the effect of "They think I haven't made anything worth a sh*t since 1976."FinsUp6835 wrote:Jimmy does not come on here

I hate to say it, but I see the end is near. He can not sell out like he used to. Tickets are widely available when he hits the stage. He isn't selling out like he used to. Is it that he is charging way too much, or people just do not have the disposable income anymore? No one really knows.... I kn...

Re: Blackberry Smoke
Even though the Truckers did an album called Southern Rock Opera , I wouldn't necessarily call them "Southern Rock", at least not in the same sense as Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Marshall Tucker, .38 Special, Charlie Daniels, etc. as there's something very different happening there. It was a one-o...

Plus based on what I read about them on page 1 I can hear better sounds listening to the static on the low part of an AM radio dial.

The Musical Disconnect
http://danielnester2.files.wordpress.com/2014/08/buckpulloutquote1.jpg?w=500&h=361 This quote from R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, which originally appeared in the October 1984 issue of Record magazine, is just as timely now (if not more so) than it was back then and certainly goes a long way towa...

Buford Pusser's legacy: Still Walking Tall 40 years later
Nice write up on Buford Pusser from The Tennessean here . For those that need a refresher course in how the Buford Pusser story ties in with Buffett, check out this link . Pusser also figures prominently in at least a couple Drive-By Truckers songs ("The Boys from Alabama" and "The Bu...

Re: Sad Day In Country Music History
A couple fine examples of what's the matter with commercial country music radio these days, the fact that neither of these folks are receiving airplay. One is a veteran of the business, the other, a relative upstart. Both deserving of the recognition. Sad thing is, they're just the tip of the iceber...
