In one of the early editions of the Coconut Telegraph Buffett cited the reason he started up the Margaritaville Cafes. If I remember correctly it was for him to have something to fall back on in the event he wasn't able to live off of royalties forever. I don't blame him one bit for that. Yes, the c...

I think any number of JB songs would be appropriate but a new original song wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I've been to an average to two Buffett shows a year since 1977, so that's 60 shows, I've seen him in FL, GA, VA, MD, NY, LA, TX, WI, CA, AZ, NV, CO, WA, HA, OH, IL and UT. I've also seen 35 Dead shows between 1978 and 1995. I don't think that Parrotheads are any more or any less devoted fans, nor d...

Just so long as XM doesn't drop Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour, which I seriously doubt they would.

I know of some people that have visited Costa Rica that were so a-feared of the crime down there that they stayed in gated communities. Doesn't sound like much of a way to spend a vacation to me. Actually, when my family went it was more like an adventure, which is exactly what we wanted it to be.

I'm all about the "cult" part, as in Buffett having a loyal and devoted following but the "branding" part is even more telling. I guess that's what separates Parrotheads from true subcultures like the Grateful Dead's Deadhead following. Buffett started out that way but soon devol...

I witnessed a riot when in Limon in 1999 but all in our party escaped unscathed. There was also a rape attempt of a motel employee when visiting Jaco on the Pacific side. Otherwise, our trip went smoothly. The following spring some American teenagers were killed near Cahuita that made international ...

Speaking of Keith Moon, that new Who album that came out last year is quite good, particularly considering they're the only original members of the band left.

Bob Marley (didn't even LIVE in the 80's) Marley passed away on May 11th, 1981. Much of the rest of your list was punk, and it never turned me on, or just people I didn't care for. At best only 3 of those bands could be called "punk": X, the Clash and the Replacements, all of which were m...
