Re: Sail on Robin Williams
From all that I have read, he did plenty of raging against the dying of the light. Obviously, he felt that he was left no other recourse than to take his own life. Much of the reaction I've seen to his death shows that depression is still largely misunderstood by a huge portion of the population.

Re: Lauren Bacall...
Probably because I've always cranked up both the studio and live versions so loud that I wasn't paying any attention to the lyrics at all.ormz6 wrote:Funny that after all these years, we still find new wrinkles.

Re: Lauren Bacall...
Maybe he changes it live but on the studio version it's "Lucille Ball". Funny how I must have listened to the song millions of times before but I've never picked up on that.PeretHed66 wrote:Landfall.

Re: Sail on Robin Williams
I haven't seen a single soul glorifying Robin Williams' death but I have seen my FB feed flooded with links to various resources for suicide prevention.

Re: Sail on Robin Williams
I'm not glorifying the man's death. I also don't see a "domino" effect occurring as Robin Williams is not the first celebrity to have committed suicide nor will he be the last, unfortunately. And, no matter the amount of resources at his disposal be they monetary or otherwise, that's no re...

Re: Sail on Robin Williams
Calling Stephen and Robin cowards is like calling someone who lost the battle with cancer a coward for not trying harder with chemo or radiation. Sometimes you can't go any farther, no matter how hard you try. Agreed. I saw similar sentiments being expressed in the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman's ...

Re: Sail on Robin Williams
Such a tremendous and tragic loss. Early on, I cut my teeth on the likes of George Carlin and Richard Pryor, then came Steve Martin and Robin Williams and the heyday of Saturday Night Live . Bar none, Robin Williams was always one of my very favorite late night talk show guests. Yes, he could be man...

Re: Peter Frampton Throws Fan's Cellphone During Concert
Despite the venues' no camera policy, Frampton allowed fans to take photos as long as they didn't use their flash. He also asked that they not take video. These folks refused to honor either request. According to this firsthand account their asshattery continued even after the show. I've also read t...

Peter Frampton Throws Fan's Cellphone During Concert
Is this sort of thing going to eventually lead to cellphones being confiscated at the door or is that illegal? In this case, the audience members were given ample warning (repeatedly, no less) yet they continued to ignore the requests of the venue as well as Peter Frampton himself. Meanwhile, if one...

While a bit long at 2 hrs, 44 mins, definitely one of the more unique movies I've ever seen.

Re: Misunderstood Lyrics
Took me a while to figure out Marie Laveaux in I will Play For Gumbo. You must not be old enough to remember this song, which was where I first heard about Madame Laveau. I don't think it's an indication that palmettopirate didn't know who Marie Laveau is, just that they had a hard time making out ...

What I didn't understand, is what's up with the tongue, licking the lips... Good thing he didn't bite it off when he was talking... I guess the cat's out of the bag, so I can now disclose this information. The real Jimmy Buffett actually retired to St. Barths in 2008. What we see on tour sin...
