Just like our illustrious Congress did today....spending about 1 trillion of OUR money...700 billion for the bailout and a couple of hundred billion of pork to bribe Congressmen to vote FOR the plan..

What I find interesting is that I use language similar to what she does (but then I'm Texan). I don't see it as talking down to people or "dumbing down" as you call it, but rather a refreshing relief from the elitism that I've heard from people (like John Kerry) who have no conceptualizat...

Gotta pick the Phillies to win NLCS. Was at the Phillies/Brewers game last night. Second pitching gem in 2 games. The place was rockin' when Meyers worked two walks off of Sabathia ...first one 9 pitch walk after being 0-2 in the count, second one 10 pitch walk....46,000 yelling "C...C..."

yeah I was being serious. But maybe it's from seeing posts from the same people over and over that just make me feel that way. And no Rick I'm not that far left...At least I don't think I am. What I actually MEANT to say was "SHIRLEY YOU'RE NOT SERIOUS?" yes he is, and stop calling him Sh...

I wrote a "letter to the editor" in our local newspaper a couple of years ago complaining/lamenting how people start putting up Christmas decorations the day after Halloween. My gripe wasn't with commercial or retail stores, it was with people who put Santa up and LIGHT it Nov. 1. Keep the...

The shape the country's in now, Obama should be up by 20 points. I think the fact McCain is as close as he is says a lot about what a lightweight Mr. Change is as a candidate. This might turn out to be 2000 Part II. Al Gore should have walked away with that election, just like Obama should be walki...

Wouldn't Milwaukee need a pitcher besides CC Sabathia if they're going to win anything? He's been pitching on 3 days rest, maybe they can get that down to 24 hours. Unless they really decide to open the checkbook, they don't have to worry about wrecking his arm for next year. I believe thursd...

I've always felt bad for guys like him and Bill Buckner. Especially Buckner-who had a GREAT career and will always be remembered in a negative light for ONE play. On the other hand, there's Don Larsen, who had a TERRIBLE career, yet he'll always be rememered in a POSITIVE light because of one game....

He may have had 40-some saves that year, but trust me, almost everyone was an adventure. It got to the point that, even Schilling put a towel over his head so he didn't have to watch Williams come in a game for him. "Wild Thing" didn't have that moniker for nothing. I remember Schilling a...

Remember this IS Philadelphia. They are notoriously a tough bunch to please.... but it's good that they welcomed him back. They SHOULD welcome him back. They should've never let him leave in the first place. He had something like 43 saves that year that helped GET them to the W.S. I know they were ...

1993 brings back nightmare memories of Mitch Williams giving up the walk-off HR to Joe Carter and Toronto winning WS. Time has erased the bad feelings for Mitch in Philly...after running him out of town after 93, he now is on post-game shows for Phillies.... time is a healer. I know Mitch Williams ...

This Phillies fan agrees with you...the Mets have enough offensive weapons that should have overcome their bullpen woes...and it would have been nice for their fans to close the stadium with a win (like their crosstown Yankees) I think 1993 was the last time neither N.Y. team made the playoffs. (Ex...

(The Phillies fans will disagree with me, but)it's too bad the final game at Shea Stadium had to be one of this caliber. Yeah, their bullpen pretty much su.ked the past couple months, but, as one of the sports announcers said today, it was their OFFENSE that let them down in the series against the ...

Wino you know"]Jim Thome is also a former INDIAN-doing quite a number on his ex-team today. They need to waive the hall of fame rules and enshrine that guy RIGHT NOW, even as an ACTIVE player. I put Jim Thome in that unique class with Lou Gehrig (who IMO was the greatest ballplayer of all time...

Pulling for the Sox, for Jim Thome sake. He is a class act. Hated to see him leave Philly, but then we wouln't have Ryan Howard (who should be the NL MVP).

Defending the Sarah Palin pick is getting tougher than defending O.J. Who did Sarah Palin murder? :x America's faith in competent political leadership  Right from the start, I thought McCain was nuts for picking her, but after seeing her in the interviews, she really should do the Repub...

Moyer won't play long enough to get to 300. He has stated that he would like to play in 4 decades, so he HOPES to pitch at least til the 2010 season. That would give him the 80, 90, 00, 10 decades. Hopefully the Phillies will sign him to a 2-year deal after this year. They'd be crazy not to, he was ...
