Re: Early Morning Rain-Toronto 2007

I heard it the first time it was on and thought it was awesome. I'm sure Gordon Lightfoot was proud as well. Along with the Elvis version, this has to be my favorite, next to Gord's of course. Thanks for doing it Jimmy!

Re: Landshark Stuff

I bought myself a Landshark t-shirt at Wal-Mart. I walk into the store, with my wife, and walk straight to where the clothing is. While I dont dress fancy or anything, I also typcially dont buy clothes al WalMart aside from socks, undershirts, etc. My wife is looking at me like I have 3 heads till ...

Re: New Plane for Jimmy?

At the Noblesville concert he mentioned that it was the Ian Fleming airport again. He had the Jamaica Mistaica Tee Shirt on, and the Jamaican flag was on the display for the song. Nobody shot this time. I think he was proud of the invitation to be the first after what they put him through. He played...

Re: Chicamauga in False Echos

"Some mysteries remain The final fate of the Chickamauga and her artillery can't be confirmed. The wreck was a landmark for a year or two after the war, when the hull and machinery were raised and salvaged. The engines and gearing at least-possibly still in the original hull-were purchased by a New ...

Re: Come Monday Rare Verse?

Sorry to dig this thread up, but I heard this song on RM again and wanted to thank you for the information. I just wanted to be sure that what Carson had mentioned wasn't lost from my short term memory. [smilie=beadygrinner.gif] I think I had hear this version of Come Monday before, but thought I wa...

And now, the rest of the story...

So I learned something today! The real story is that the name of the ship was the "Chiquimula" and not "Chicamauga" as in False Echoes. It didn't really sink in Mobile Bay, but burned and sank in the Blakeley River in 1953. I still love that song. This just adds to the mystic. Chalk it up to fiction...

DAMN! I'm bummed... I want to hear Jimmy's version of Early Morning Rain. I'm a long time Lightfoot fan. Wish he would do Wreck Of the Edmund Fitzgerald or Ghosts Of Cape Horn. :-)

Any chance of a replay on Radio Margaritaville? How about a live CD?

I'm going back and re-reading all the Buffett novels in order, with exception to the "Take another road" short story a second time before I read "A salty piece of land" again. Of course reading his books leads to listening to many other artists as well. He has references to Little Feet, Rolling Ston...

Chicamauga in False Echos

Has anybody read or heard anything about the ship Chicamauga from the False Echo’s song on Banana Wind album? "Now the old Chicamauga has slipped by the ways She lies on the bottom of old Mobile Bay" I did a Google on it, but only found a Civil War reference for the C.S.S Chicamauga. I was hoping fo...
