Jimmy started the company (with Sunshine Smith, I think ) when he saw "bootleg" T-shirts being sold and it pi$$ed him off, for two main reasons... First and foremost he wasn't getting any royalties from the sales, and secondly , most of the time his name was spelled wrong! I'm not s...

I dated a shirmp once; her name was Pink.
I took her to my senior prom, at which I wore a white sportcoat. Folks announced us by saying, "Here comes that white sportcoat with a Pink crustaceon...."

My 10-year-old (soon to be 11) knows and likes Buffett, although he probably wouldn't admit it. But I caught him singing along softly to Volcano in the car the other day — and he knew all the words! Guess that's because he's heard this music all his life. In fact, we were watching TV recently when a...

I agree about "Everlasting Moon" — a great, under-rated song. Buffett should mix it in with his set list occasionally. 8)

I Believe in 'Songlines'

I just finished reading Bruce Chatwin's book, "The Songlines," and now I fully understand what Jimmy means when he talks about them (such as in the song "Far Side of the World."). The Austrailian aborigines believe each of them have songlines to follow across the terrain ... the ...

I agree that it will probably be "Pascagoula Run." "In the Shelter" isn't upbeat enough, and he will stay away from songs that the casual Buffett fan recognizes (such as "Margaritaville" or "Coconut Telegraph") because, on one of his few national TV appearance...

Some of the aforementioned lines also are my favorites, but I have a few more to add: "If the phone doesn't ring, it's me." "She's 'pre-you.' " "It was somewhere past dark-thirty...." "Be good and you will be lonesome; be lonesome, and you will be free." "...

Yes, it's a true story. It happened in 1993 or '94 at Jimmy's former house on the Riviera Canal in Key West. "Everybody's Got a Cousin in Miami" is partly about this. Supposedly, when Jimmy called the authorities, that's what one of them said about the boatload of Cubans who landed in Buff...
