Well, it's better than a lot of other songs that could have been playing, such as Streisand's "The Way We Were" or that earlier American folk song "Sing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home...." 8)

In a local assisted living center, where my mother-in-law lives and where the residents are all in their 80s and 90s, I heard the original version of "Margaritaville" playing softly in the hallway over the center's sound system on Sunday. :D

Yes, I agree it would be sad to see such a piece of old Key West disappear, especially one with pop cultural history. However, change is inevitable -- it's the only constant. Also, how many of us actually spend much time in the Chart Room when we're in Key West? I've been going to Key West regularly...

Rumor has it, it takes less energy to recycle cans than bottles. Also, and this is NO surprise, more college students buy beer in CANS than bottles. For these reasons, my local brewery (which one? I know, I know) has decided to develop a can line at their facility. http://beeradvocate.com/news/1387...

By the way, I've attended business meetings in the Florida Keys and I've never seen everyone wearing suits like this. Unless, of course, this is an alternate universe and these are the people our bosses warned us about.... :)

Here's an Idea...

With all the support BN'ers give Buffett, wouldn't it be a great way for his organization to say thanks if at least one of his concerts had a pre-sale announced only on BuffettNews with a pre-sale password before the tickets are open to the general public. That way, his true, die-hard fans would get...

Aw, c'mon; Sinatra is the greatest popular singer of all time. I hope Jimmy doesn't cover him; I like Jimmy's music but he doesn't have the voice for Sinatra songs. 8)

Concert Attire

As I was re-watching the "Live in Anguilla" DVD, it occurred to me that Jimmy and the Coral Reefers usually dress the same way for every show, no matter where they are. Jimmy always is shoeless these days with shorts, a T-shirt and wrist bands. Usually, it is only JB and Utley in shorts; I...

Landshark arrived in extreme South Georgia just since around Christmas. A local Applebee's put up a neon sign and a local Mexican restuarant just started having it available. To me, as others have said, it's similar to Corona, perhaps somewhat lighter. It's OK once in awhile; personally, I prefer a ...

So...Jimmy Buffett is a James Taylor wannabee? Actually, they're old friends. Back around '79 when Bubba was recording the "Volcano" LP, "Sweet Baby James" was hanging around with him. Taylor's wife at the time, Carly Simon, admonished him for it: "All you want to do these ...

Buffett Fined for Water Guzzling

According to today's Wall Street Journal, Jimmy Buffett has been fined $100 "for unspecified water violations" by Palm Beach Police. Buffett is among several "water guzzlers" named in Palm Beach who are using large amounts of water to keep their estates green, despite city restri...

I enjoyed reading it while I was in Key West. I was trying to escape the heat and Capt. Tony's wasn't open yet, so I went to the book store and read it. It was a great way to pass the time. But didn't buy it. I was talking to Corcoran this past summer in Key West and he said, "You don't have t...

Isn't it about time for Buffett's organization to compile ALL his music videos and behind-the-scenes stuff on a special Margaritavision DVD?! I know there's enough folks who would buy it to make it profitable. :D
