Seger has been getting some play on CMT recently. I was taken aback at first seeing him there -- I haven't kept up with him in many years. I was a big fan in the '70s and still have my "Night Moves" album on vinyl -- scratches and all! :D

Yes, they came to town a couple of years ago to play a holiday "beach" concert. They do a good job and are a bunch of nice guys. They play Buffett straight -- playing the songs just as they were recorded. 8)

Sheesh! First, Willie Nelson gets busted for having pot and mushrooms on his bus, and now this with Jimmy!
What's happening to musicians?
Next, I wouldn't be surpirsed to hear things like Mick Jagger has used marijuana or that The Beatles have taken LSD!!!

I have to agree with several folks who say "Beach House on the Moon" is the weakest -- if one discounts the pre-1973 albums. But even on BHOTM, I still find a song or two I like to listen to. I find that my thoughts change over time. I remember back in the early '90s when I didn't think mu...

Rather than comparing "Rosalita" to "Margaritaville," I would compare "Born to Run." "B2R" and "Mville" could be considered both artist's signature songs. 8)

As has just been said, a cover is a new version of a song already recorded. It's immaterial who wrote it. Elvis had a hand in writing only a couple of his songs (and even that is suspect). You wouldn't say that virtually everything Elvis ever did was a cover would you? Or Sinatra, who wrote nothing....

He has done concerts at the North Charleston Coliseum, just not in awhile. In recent years, he has favored the newer Carolina Coliseum in Columbia when scheduling a South Carolina date ... perhaps because Columbia is the center of the state and can draw from east to Charleston as well as west to Gre...

Seriously, I'd include some Beach Music, such as a few songs from the Tams, the Drifters and the Fabulous Shakers. 8)

I can relate to all this. My 13-year-old son is a fan of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, AC/DC, the Doors, etc. I've been pulling out some of my old vinyl for him to listen to and even got him a Zeppelin CD at Christmas. But he also likes the Black-Eye Peas! Go figure! You think folks will be listening t...

I saw PPL in concert in 1975. They opened for Dave Loggins whose "Please Come to Boston" was on the charts at the time. The League did a much better show. 8)

I almost hate to admit it, but I may be the only here with the original "Cowsills" first album from the '60s that included "The Rain, The Park and Other Things." I just came across it the other night as I was alphabetizing my old LP collection. :)

I agree -- satellite radio is the way to go! Since I've had Sirius, I hardly ever play my CDs in the car anymore. Sirius has, of course, Radio Margaritaville, but also an all-Springsteen/E Street Band channel, an all-Rolling Stones channel and all NFL games, no matter where/when played. After hearin...

Hidden Messages

Anyone see the article in the Wall Street Journal the other day about hidden messages supposedly placed backwards in song lyrics? This all started in the late '60s with the Beatles and the "Paul is Dead" saga. If you play "Revolution No. 9" backwards, you supposedly hear John say...

"Come On In" is on the Margaritaville Cafe Late Night Live CD from New Orleans released in 2000. Club Trini isn't all instrumental -- Tina and Nadira sometimes sing on their songs. On this particular song, Jimmy sits in and sings lead, as he does on a few others on this album. By the way, ...

Re: VERY DISSAPOINTED in the Fenway DVD

2. Get with the frickin times --no 7.1? at least do 5.1 Surround Sound---Shoulda just put this out on a Betamax tape. That would turn the release into a studio production. All the elements would have to be mixed into 5.1. I think the idea for these kind of releases is to release them in a low produ...
