Re: Teacher job fair help
First of all...best of luck! I never really went to one of those before but I know others that have and they enjoyed the experiences. Secondly, I don't know if this is an option for you or not, but New Zealand is SCREAMING for teachers and is a pretty good place to live. We are heading into term 2 o...

Re: 2009 NFL Mock Draft
Stafford sure looks like the "safe" pick at #1 for the Lions, but as a life long Lions fan I am fairly confident that they will either choose a wide receiver or a long snapper with their #1 overall pick. The scary thing is, they probably actually need both! I love that team, but they stink...

Re: RIP Mark "The Bird" Fidrych
I thought that I would share this photo as it was amazing to meet this guy (twice)! I will never forget the look on "The Bird's" face when my one year old boy took this ball that he had just signed and stuffed it in his mouth. If you look closely you may be able to see the smudge of his na...

Re: RIP Mark "The Bird" Fidrych
I had the honor of meeting this man twice...he was always so classy and fun to be around. He signed a ball for me when I was younger and then another one about three years ago for my son. He was a neat guy with an incredible past!

Re: Any teachers please help a struggling student teacher,
I'm not a teacher, so please take this with a grain of salt. First, I agree completely with NZ. Secondly, shouldn't there be an enforced rule that there are to be no cell phones, no papers, no books on the desk at the start of and during the test? And anyone disobeying these rules will have to stop ...

Re: Any teachers please help a struggling student teacher,
My father is a retired teacher with over 30 years of "fighting the war on ignorance". I also have 3 brothers that are teachers. None of them would want to work in a school district that would allow cheating so as not to upset parents. You're going to have to deal with upset parents, crazy...

Re: Any teachers please help a struggling student teacher,
I am a teacher and I have been in similar situations...how you handle this is VERY important...especially if you do get a job at that school and possibly teach these kids again. First of all, DEMAND respect and do not allow these kids to talk to you in a disrespectful manner. It doesn't matter if yo...

Re: Buffett Bracketology aka 2009 Tourney Pick'em
I am shocked to be as high as I am, but I am sitting okay for now. If Michigan State beats UConn I should pull ahead...now that would be almost as amazing as State winning the game itself! Crazy!

Re: student teaching
I student taught in Michigan about five years or so ago. I was lucky with regards to my placement, but many others were not. The only advice that I can give is to make the best of each situation...no matter how screwed up it appears. The students are worth your time and effort, regardless of what y...

Re: 2009 NFL Season
I'm anxious to see the schedule for the Steelers. Hoping for number 7 but would love to see a really come from behind team show their stuff! As a lifelong Lions fan, I have to say (for the 2nd year in a row) that the Lions will once again make history and win the Super Bowl in 2009. That would be t...

Re: Camping near Cincy Riverbend???
I haven't been there in years, but when we did go I believe we camped at a small place about 30 minutes north. The place was terrible though and with Ohio being a somewhat dry state after certain times of the day, I would suggest looking for a spot just on the other side of the border. You'll be a b...

Happy Waitangi Day sign at the cricket in Melbourne! I saw that too... You guys didn't look too hot from what I saw earlier, however, we rarely look good and even if we do well we can always choke and screw it up. As a guy I think we are all familiar with likes to say, "Only time will tell.&qu...

Airfares now to N Z from sydney are cheaper than going Sydney to Perth  People are zipping over there for long weekends these days! I remember when it was like that for us too...when we could zip to Sydney cheaper than to the south island. It's not quite like that now, but those were the days!

I LOVE the haka!!! Especially when the All-Blacks play a Euro team!!! Did you see the time the All-Blacks played Polynesia? The All-Blacks did the haka and at the same time the Polynesians did a cipitau (my spelling might not be right, it's pronounced "sip-i-tow" rhymes with "t...

rugby league is better than rugby union ....... much more civilised [smilie=battingeyes.gif] I prefer union, but I respect your opinion. :pirate: all that ever matters is that we beat New Zealand .......... we are currently a country in crisis as they beat us at a cricket match :o :o :o :o (that is...
