The Show in Houston

I thought the show in Houston last night was wonderful. I listened to it from Miami on Radio Margaritaville and watched the video on ustream. I was disappointed that Jimmy did not do "Cuban Crime of Passion" for the first time, I think, on this tour. But then he performed what I thought wa...

ustream

Last night, for the first time, I was able to watch the show, from Houston, on ustream. The sound on ustream is not as good as on Radio Margaritaville, and there are glitches on ustream where the video and audio temporarily stop. So what I did was I watched the show on ustream, muting the sound, and...

Re: Jimmy's Most Unappreciated Album

People's responses to this post have inspired me, so I made a mix on my Ipod Shuffle of Jimmy's unappreciated albums. I included "Off to See the Lizard," "Take the Weather with You," "Barometer Soup," "Riddles in the Sand," and "Floridays." Fins Up! ...

Re: encores!

I genuinely like the new album "Encores." The version of "Growing Older But Not Up" on it is my favorite rendition of the song. I also really like the rendition of "Banana Republics," especially the steel drum parts.

Jimmy's Most Unappreciated Album

All right, Parrot Heads, What do you think is Jimmy's most under appreciated album. By "under appreciated" I mean under appreciated by the fans, a really good album that you and I forget about. My vote is for "Take the Weather with You." I think it's a really good album. There ar...

The Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico

Dear Parrot Heads, I want to preface this post by saying that I am not a political activist. I don't go out and build houses for people. I don't do Habitat for Humanity. That's not my personality type. I've never participated in a beach cleanup. In my professional life, I'm a teacher. That is one of...

Re: "Zac Brown...the tiki torch is passed"

As I said in an earlier post on this subject, I hope that Jimmy doesn't retire any time soon. I will keep doing this as long as he does. However, he is 63, and, at some point, he is going to decide to stop doing this. When that time comes, no musician is going to replace him. The same way that Buffe...

Interesting Facts about the Shows in Philly

My mother always told me, "Bobby, don't start rumors." Well, one of the nice things about being in my mid-forties is I don't have to listen to my mother. So, Mom, I'm sorry. Please plug your ears with cotton or don't read this post. Here goes: I discovered something this morning, my fine f...

New Arrangements: Pirate Looks and Cuban Crime

Jimmy and the Reefers have come up with new arrangements for "A Pirate Looks at Forty" and "Cuban Crime of Passion." While I love the old arrangements, I'm also really enjoying the new arrangements, which breathe new life into old songs. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on th...

Re: "Zac Brown...the tiki torch is passed"

At the end of the show in St. Louis, which I thought was a great show, Jimmy said something along the lines of, "Till we meet again." This implies to me that Jimmy isn't going to retire at the end of the tour. Personally, I will keep doing this as long as he does. However, Buffett is 63, a...

The Show in Atlanta

They say confession does a soul good. Well, I must confess I didn't catch the show in Atlanta on RM. Had to work late. I'm sorry I missed it. I have a feeling it was a special show. But looking over the set list, I'll tell you, my PH brethren, what I liked (Drum roll, please. Long, dramatic pause . ...

Nibblin' on Tortilla Chips

Margaritaville has come out with three styles of tortilla chips: Sea Salt, Island Lime, and Extra Thick Restaurant Style. They are available in Florida. I don't know if they are available in other states. They were on sale this weekend at Publix, two for one. We bought two bags: Sea Salt and Extra T...

A Few Thoughts on the Tampa Show

Here are a few thoughts about last night's show in Tampa. First off, I enjoyed listening to the show on Radio Margaritaville. I used the flashplayer link and thought that it sounded great. I don't know if you noticed, but Jimmy and the Reefers and the Reeferettes didn't play "Brown Eyed Girl&qu...

Margaritaville Resort Approved for Hollywood Beach

All right Parrotheads, I'm going to break a story here on Buffett News. According to the "Miami Herald," the city of Hollywood, FL approved Wednesday night a Margaritaville resort for Hollywood Beach at the junction of A1A (appropriate!) and Johnson Street. The Buffett themed resort beat o...

Tampa: Jimmy's into it, the crowd's into it.

Bristow, VA: Lots of Parrotheads around the Chesapeake Bay.

Re: Why should Buffett be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

I'll give you three reasons: 1. longevity: Buffett's first album, "Down to Earth," came out in 1970. Forty years later, his tours are still one of the highest grossing tours in the music industry. 2. effect on his fans: Through his music, Jimmy has created a lifestyle that many aspire to. ...

I'm going to go with the obvious choice and predict that the opening song will be "Big Top."

Under the Big Top Tour

With the Under the Big Top Tour beginning in Tampa on April 24, I'm wondering where people are going to see Jimmy this summer and why they are choosing that venue. While I'm based in Miami, I'm going to see Jimmy at the Susquehanna (almost impossible to spell! ) Bank Center in Camden, NJ. Fir...
