Personally it annoys me as well. Constantly having to wait until usually late April for an Alpine Valley date. But I've gotten used to it as well. Over the past few years my group as left open two weekends in August for a potential Alpine date. While it can be a pain at times, we've learned to adjust.

I would prefer 8/24 over Labor Day weekend again. But only time will tell.

Alpine just announced Hootie and the Blowfish for Aug 23rd next year...
