You Had To Be There. It was a gift from my boss, who said he thought of me whenever he heard God's Own Drunk. Sad, but true.

I get national numbers for Tower and few other chains each week.

Winged Migration

OK, this is WAY off topic, but...A co-worker sent me a copy of the documentary Winged Migration and it has to be the most incredible thing I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it and have the slightest interest, do yourself a favor and pick it up. There's even a chapter with parrots.

I get there every couple of months or so and always have a great time. The food and service are top notch and the drinks are strong, even by New Orleans standards. I hope you get around to giving the place another chance. It sounds like they had an off night.

Wal Mart is racked by a company called Anderson. A few are racked by Handleman. I know several Anderson Reps. who insist on putting out all new releases themselves. They want to insure that there are no street date violations at one of their stores. Call the store in advance and see if store staff o...

The big difference in the new ad and the old ones, is the retail tag. If Jimmy is going to spend the money on an ad, he has the good sense to co-op the thing through retail. That should help buy into a nice P&P program.

Expensive isn't the issue. Unnecessary is. Not long ago, there was a good interview with Peter Criss from Kiss online. In it, he talks about the fact that true fans are last concern to anyone in the music business. True fans are hooked from the get go. Casual fans are the key and casual fans are buy...

I have a feeling that MCA/Universal knows about the CD issues and just has no desire to take action. Why do I say that? Well, look at the discography pages in the MMIM booklet. The images of the 12 album covers have the catalogue #s in the corner as well as the logo on 3 of them. They obviously hav...

Don't let that get to you. $18.98 is a standard list price. Most releases by "name" artists carry that list price. Norah Jones was an $18.98 list from day one, yet on street date, that thing was $9.99 everywhere. RCA/BMG has the $$ to buy into price and positioning programs with most major...
