Re: San Antonio

Definitely do the River Walk, and have dinner and drinks there if the weather allows. Decent art museum. I have been there for a couple of conferences, 20 years apart and was struck by how lovely the River Walk is, and how less than wonderful some of the street level was.

Re: Chi Cub's Tickets

They typically go on sale in February, on a Friday. There is an online sale, and they also do wristbands at Wrigley the day before tickets go on sale, with the in person line usually opening a couple of hours before the internet sales (as I best remember from last year). In addition, they are playin...

Re: 2011 NCAA Football

There's a lot being written about this in the higher ed community. Penn State apparently has a history of an old boys network with lots of people who have been there a really long time, and who have developed allegiances and loyalties that have become way too dominant. Watching the press conference ...

Re: 2011 NCAA Football

Again, there is no way they could allow Paterno to be shown on the sidelines Saturday--absolutely the wrong message. This had to be done now.

Re: 2011 NCAA Football

The Chronicle of Higher Education reports that support for Paterno, and the university president is rapidly eroding, and that both could be out by week's end. At first I thought they would let him finish the season, but then you have a bowl game several weeks later and they wouldn't let him hang on...

Re: Really good contacts for astigmatism

I too have a really bad astigmatism, but am severely farsighted. Tried contacts once and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Been in glasses since the last day of kindergarten so they are just part of my life at this point. And my opthamologist tells me that lasik isn't great yet for my ...

Re: Fall TV 2011: Whatcha gonna watch?

They even have a d-bag jar for him to put a dollar in every time he makes a d-bag type comment. when did u get a TV???? Glad I am not the only one--I asked the same question in a thread a couple of wee...

Ditto.
Nordstroms appears to be one of the rare stores that has no Christmas stuff until the day after Thanksgiving.
