after you subtract your 2 numbers the sum of the digits of the remainder always equals 18. pick 4321 mix up the digits to be 1234 then 4321 - 1234 = 3087 tossing out the zero, 3 + 8 + 7 = 18 the game then subtracts off the digits you entered, resulting in the one digit you circled. class dismissed....
