Shipments of 500,000? I thought with SoundScan it was based strictly on sales. Before SoundScan a lot of records went gold and platinum based on shipments, not sales. Which means there are probably a lot of falsely certified records out there! SoundScan was implemented to better track actual sales ...

http://homepage.mac.com/music_for_life/blog/index.html some interesting commentary Glad everyone enjoyed the review. I took some heat for it from non-Parrotheads. Of course, the militant wing of the Rod Stewart fan club launched an assault on me based on the comment I made about his new album. Oh w...

They were posted on my personal site (not my music site in my sig). Again, not to make a big deal out of it, but I was the one who was up until 2 am scanning them. I wouldn't have minded so much if he/she said, "hey, I found this at someone's web site - check it out." At any rate, we all g...

Bama Breeze may have posted them, but I scanned them.

He/she took them from my web site - didn't even bother to change the naming scheme that I had used.

It is nice to share...but you should give credit where credit is due.

I'm glad everyone is enjoying them, though.

At one point, Jimmy and Fingers were really jamming. Literally, both were down on there knees and into the groove. And yes, the rest of the band was smiling from ear to ear. A lot of people in the crowd were confused, though. Some people were shouting Fingers and getting really excited. But you coul...

2007 Tour ...I love your optimism! :)
So true, so true.

But it sounds like they are really pushing forward with this one. Only time will tell.

I would seriously doubt the new album would be released so quickly after the soundtrack for Hoot. Buffett has several new songs (four?) on the soundtrack. He could ride that album easily through the summer. It would not make sense from a marketing standpoint to put out an album on the heels of the s...

This was the picture used on the CD-Single for "Hey Good Lookin'" and it was also used in some of the tour promotion for last year.

I knew that name was too odd to have been made up.

Thanks for sharing the info. :-)

TM will only sell tixs over the phone to the TM office you called. Even though all the calltakers are sitting down in Texas in one office. Actually, there are 7 TM call centers - Texas, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia, New York, California and Wisconsin. Agreed! But all the calls are routed to tho...

I've always thought children's book author Marc Harshman looks a bit like Buffett.

This photo isn't entirely convincing, but you get the idea...

I remember when I worked in a record store that had a TM outlet, we could only pull tickets for Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. We had to "switch systems" to sell for Pennsylvania or Indiana. That required about two or three minutes worth of typing and waiting, which was something were w...

I do not think there is motivation for the venues to keep brokers out. Their quest is to sell every ticket. What do they care what happens after they are sold? I am not saying its right... I am just saying its the way it is.... true, the venue doesnt care whos butt is in the seat or how it got ther...

So no, I'm not just going to "deal with it". I like your spirit. And I hope yo are right. But I'm afraid we'll just have to agree to disagree. The moral right seems to think prostitution will go away, too. Only centuries will tell. p.s. I remember when Pearl Jam took on the TM system. The...

I sold some Buffett tickets on eBay once and got death threats from BNers a few years back. Death threats! One guy emailed and said he hoped me and my family died a horrible death in a car accident. Since then, I have given away every extra Buffett ticket I've ever had. I can't believe any Parrothe...

Scalping is here to stay. Deal with it. It has been around since the first event ticket in history was sold. It will be here long after Jimmy Buffett has retired from the road. In Columbus, you can stand on the corner right in front of Nationwide Arena and sell tickets for whatever you want - perfec...

One of the reasons it doesn't stop - especially for the "legitimate" brokers and high-priced fan club packages - is because of the revenue created for the artists. As records (excuse me, CDs) sell less and less and touring becomes more expensive, enhanced and/or alternative revenue streams...

And for those of you old enough (like me)... Do you remember buying concert tickets in the 70s and early 80s? If the show was out of your local area, tickets were purchased via mail order using a personal check or a money order. You'd fill out a form or write on a piece of paper what you wanted. Oft...
