The only person I know that's ever gotten the official video from Buffett was John Jackson when he organized Baghdad Buffett Fest.

If you don't have a lawyer to guide you about who to call, call the local bar association to find a lawyer. Make sure to avoid the lawyers that advertise- the claims people know they just have to throw a little money at them and they'll go away, whereas they dread the real lawyers.

Rain is bad, it's hot enough at this point that it'll just make it soupy out.

Park n Ride as early as 9 AM, though. As for food, I was going to make Jambalaya, since I can't tolerate gumbo. But it's too hot! Then I thought the food of my hot weather ancestors but it's also too hot for stuffed grape leaves (cold, no meat) and tabbouli (which I make with more wheat than parsle...

I do enjoy Gosling's Black Seal rum. Has anyone tried their Gold or Old Rum, by chance????? :pirate: We tried the super-ultra rare family estate stuff in Key West several years ago. We were there in July, and it was just us, the bartender and the manager for most of the day. We made friends, and th...

I finally managed to find my password! I posted a note on Portofino's Facebook page asking for more details, no response. The Michigan Brewer's Guild Summer Beer Festival is Friday and Saturday though, so we decided to do that instead Friday night (because going out at 5pm when it's 90+ sounds like...

Want to try a really good rum? Zaya.....it's from Guatemala. Don't mix it.....just sip. Heaven! 8) Or Ron Zacapa XO Or El Doroado Z-man has taught me well. Zaya's now made in Trinidad by the Angostura folks (used to be the Zacapa people). Guatemalan Zaya was wonderful (we still have a bottle)...

It's file gumbo. The file thickens it, you don't need okra to do that.

Re: HELP
You could always do a paste of garlic confit and italian seasoning. The easiest way to make garlic confit is to buy one of the jumbo tubs of peeled garlic, toss it in a pan, cover with olive oil, and keep it just below a simmer until the garlic is cooked through. You want it to be fork tender. We st...

Re: Cooking Question -- Jumbalaya vs Gumbo
The secret to amazing gumbo is to make a peanut butter colored roux, not a super dark roux. Most restaurants use a super dark roux, but they do it because it keeps better and they can do it once a month and be done with it or buy it in a tub, rather than having to make it weekly and having better ta...

Re: Where to go in the Caribbean?
Puerto Rico is cheap and easy to get to, and you don't need a passport (in case you don't have one yet- it's $170pp with expediting, which you'll need for a January travel date). Vieques Island (just off PR, you can take a ferry or plane) would also work. The biobay was INCREDIBLE. The beach we went...

Re: Ingredient substitution help.
Tomato jam. If you don't care whether or not it's clear, you can just puree a can of diced tomatoes in their juice plus sugar with some agar powder (I think they're too acidic for gelatin to set). I use about half of the recommended agar. But- most pepper jellies are just Taco Bell level hot. If you...

Re: ISO a recipe for pumpkin rum cake
I would just make a pumpkin spice cake and then pour a half spiced rum/half simple syrup mix over the top. Maybe with a layer of cheesecake batter in the cake. I've had good results playing with this one (I don't think I used the recipe for the cake though). http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pumpkin-Crea...

Re: Going too far? Bacon Beer?
Too far. I like bacon donuts, I keep bacon jam on hand, chocolate covered bacon is ok, but a bacon cocktail is only interesting for a sip or two, then you're really ready for it to be over with. Pepper beer is the same way, so are strawberry balsamic cocktails- I have no doubt bacon beer would be too.

Re: What do you wear to Buffett shows?
For the last few years I've been more in the vein of t-shirt/tank top/Hawaiian shirt and shorts or a cute Buffetty dress. I've been to at least 40 shows and got my husband at Margaritaville- I have no need to prove my PH-ness with hats and leis and other junk. I do hate wearing leis, even in cool we...

She's in Columbus- they're going to get 8 inches of snow, five will stick, and there will be nothing but piles of dirty snow within a week. It'll happen three or four times. A few other times the weathermen will predict SnowPocalyspe! and they'll get less than an inch that sticks.
