I think he could do it, but it would feature his acoustic ballads. It'd be a very different show and I think it could definitely happen. He's done these types of shows in hotel lobbies!

Re: Beach Balladeer: Buffett Radio Special

Great list! I wanted to include "Irene, Goodnight" and "Souvenirs" from the Margaritaville Café albums, but we had a time constraint of 1 hour each! Here is part 2 for your listening pleasure: https://www.mixcloud.com/thepaulleslie/beach-balladeer-the-ballads-of-jimmy-buffett-rad...

Before it's all said and done, I would like it if JB would do one tour as a solo artist. Just Buffett and an acoustic guitar.

Re: Beach Balladeer: Buffett Radio Special (Part 2)

That's a great list! Some of those we played and some of them we didn't. In some cases it was very hard to decide. For example, from "Fruitcakes" - do you select "Lone Palm" or "Love in the Library"? Hmmm... I liked producing this radio special with Jeff Pike because it...

When Jimmy Buffett turned 60...his friends wished him a Happy Birthday

These were broadcast on the radio 10 years ago. Especially meaningful because Walter Cronkite and Jesse Winchester are no longer with us.

Re: Beach Balladeer: Buffett Radio Special

I love the song lists you guys came up with...some we chose and some we didn't! By the way, "NOBODY SPEAKS TO THE CAPTAIN NO MORE" is my absolute favorite Jimmy Buffett song. We didn't play that one, and I hope one day soon I can tell you why we didn't... Jimmy Buffett can certainly croon.

Re: who ate the last mango in paris?

I have had the opportunity to interview all of the co-writers of this songs-- Michael Utley, Marshall Chapman and the great Will Jennings. Will wrote most of the lyrics with a little work from Jimmy. The melody was mostly Utley's. They were all talking and Will said "I am Johnny Mango, and I kn...

His career has definitely gotten bigger.

However it has definitely lost a lot of it's soul.

Re: Jimmy one year later

I actually think Eng's book was superior to Buffett's travelogue.

I don't need to read pages and pages of Jimmy telling us what is in his back pack.

In my opinion "That Lucky Old Sun" is the album Jimmy Buffett still wishes he could make.

Re: Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs

The other thing is that Rolling Stone knows who their readers are.

Generally when Jimmy gets coverage it's a one inch strip. Rolling Stone has a much younger readership.

I like their 500 songs list. They seemed to have covered all of the great songs. Not that I liked all of their choices!
