Re: Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs
I agree with you on that point, but to the general public...nothing Jimmy Buffett has recorded is what you think of when "classic rock 'n roll" is mentioned. Nothing he's written compares to Like a Rolling Stone, Hey Jude, Hound Dog, Maybellene, Blueberry Hill, or Tutti Frutti, Whole Lotta...

Re: Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs
Margaritaville is a song about lazy days on the beach. Is it one of the top 500 rock songs of all times? No. It's his most influential songs, maybe not this best. No, it does not deserve to be in Rolling Stones list. If a country magazine did a similar list, I would put Jimmy Buffett on there. Jimmy...

Re: Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs
Although Rolling Stone magazine does get progressively worse and worse...and Jimmy has written some good songs.
In my humble opinion, nothing he has written deserves to be in the Top 500 Songs category.
Just my opinion.

Re: MVP of the Coral Reefer Band
Well Darn It.... Being the 1# Canadian DOILY, my vote's for Doyle Grisham. Anyone can play keyboards, pans, guitar, harmonica... whatever... but ya ever try playing pedal steel guitar ? It just happens to be my main axe, so I'm somewhat biased.... Lest we forget, Doyle's the ONLY Coral Reefer who's...

Re: MVP of the Coral Reefer Band
Having met Paul Shaffer, and all of the members of the CBS Orchestra with the exception of Sid...I can tell you Paul Shaffer is one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Plus an AMAZING organ player! No doubt Michael Utley is the most valuable Coral Reefer. A band of this size needs a good MD ...

Re: Submitting original song lyrics to JB
It's copyrighted as soon as you write it. Lyrics are on paper? Copyrights. Music notation on paper? Copyrighted. Music recorded in some medium? Copyrighted. Registered copyright is different but a piece of paper with your handwriting, date, etc...all stands up in a court of law. In fact, a cassette...

They never appeared in the same recording studio together. Their vocal bits were spliced together.

although it is strangely polite ??? In Jimmy's letter, he doesn't come out with both barrels blasting. He is gracious and expresses appreciation for Eng's previous kind treatment in previous writings. Perhaps I should have said, "curiously diplomatic". At least that's the impression I get...

Jimmy Buffett's Fiction: Tales from Margaritaville
Excellent collection of short stories. The best book he's ever published. I DO love both of the children's books also!
Books about JB: The Man from Margaritaville Revealed by Steve Eng.

Re: Interesting Letter from Jimmy to Biographer Steve Eng
The Scrapbook was DEFINITELY unauthorized and Mark Humphrey gave an interview to a newspaper talking about Buffett's empire's attempts at making the book's writing harder to do. I've corresponded with Steve Eng's wife quite a bit. Steve was a great writer who now has Alzheimer's disease. He's writte...

Wooow. I actually think Off to See the Lizard was one of his BEST produced albums. Just goes to show how much tastes can vary.
That album is so slick you could skate on it's grooves.
