You Go, Girl Scouts ! I was in GSUSA Overseas for a few years, but the cookies didn't come to us in Europe! Here in Canada, Girl Guide cookies come in a mint-chocolate variety in the fall and a traditional sandwich (vanilla ones and chocolate ones, half a box each) in the spring. The whole country i...

75% of the time I'm at home, I'm alone. Sometimes I'm asleep because I work an odd shift. Sometimes my husband is travelling. All the kids moved out, so we had one half year of empty-nesting. Then an out-of-town son-in-law came for courses every week, and then the youngest changed schools and moved ...

Jimmy's Phone-in to Radio Marg

Didja hear it? He's out fishing and he's bored, so he calls his radio statin and gets a little chat, plugs a few events, sounding really mellow. And at the end he requested Carrie by Joni Mitchel. More Canadian Content!! Yay Jimmy!

Jamaica Dog Sled Team

Margaritaville is a primary sponsor of the Jamaican Dog sled Team. Apparently they did pretty well in their race Sunday (27 out of 40 is really good for a musher who had not seen snow before). They say that they rescue all the dogs from the Kingston Pound. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4629754...

Thanks everyone, Turned out the 100th birthday party kept us very busy... 16 of my husband's 27 first cousins (or possibly 17 of 26?) were in town! And their parents and kids and grandkids! When we had some touring time, we walked down Madison Avenue (in a posse of 8, some well over 6' tall) to the ...

Good suggestions, everyone. It's my 3rd trip to NYC, actually, but on the first one (1968) we had about $3.98 between us and had to get home to southern Ontario in a VW Beetle . . . stayed and ate and got showed around with relatives! The second time we were better tourists and did the Empire State ...

suggestions for New York City events in January???

We will be in NYC for a 100th birthday party (husband's aunt) on Jan. 21. There will be other family events going on (not yet finalized) but we'd like to do some big-city stuff, too. Museums, maybe shows if we get reasonable tickets, clubs/concerts?, shopping?, walking tours?. We'll be there from Th...
