Re: Darlene Love on Letterman
For you night owls, Darlene Love returns for her annual visit to the Late Show Friday, singing "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)". Always one of my highlights of the Holiday season, this marks somewhere around 20 years that she'll perform the song. And that woman can flat-out sing . She ...

My favorites are still Jimmy and the Parrots.
But Brent Burns, Kelly Maguire, Nautical Wheelers, Captain Quint, and Steve Kareta and Changes in Lattitudes are also good, as is Howard Livingston and MM24.

Re: Satan Attacks Rod Parsley
As BuffettNews' token fundamentalist and theology geek, I'm very familiar with Parsley. He's a [*]flaming heretic who doesn't have the first clue about even the most basic of Christian doctrines [*]charletain, taking advantage of poor people who's desperation has led them to turn to him for help [*]...

Alabama Jack's is a must.
Snapper's is also very good.
Somebody else mentioned the Island Grill. It's outstanding. Nice little secluded place with cheap beer and great food.

http://www.stmichaelsmd.org/index.htm The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is located in St. Michaels. There are bed & breakfasts there also. Don't forget to feast on the steamed crabs! St. Michaels is a nice little town. If you're near Rock Hall, be sure to stop at the Harbor Shack. The deck at ...

Leaving in five minutes to party with Jimmy and the Parrots this afternoon and then with Jimmy and the CRB and about 15,000 of my closest friends tonight.
See you all there and have a great time.

Re: Cops don't recognize Bob Dylan...
I didn't recognize Samuel Jackson when he was on a flight with me once. Another passenger pointed him out to me. I also wouldn't recognize a lot of the modern celebrities if I passed them on the street. Don't feel too bad. I was in a restaurant with Burt Reynolds once and he didn't have his toupee ...

Re: What's Everyone Listening To?
Still listening to old podcasts of "Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour". I love this show and I've discovered more great music I'd have never heard of otherwise (Cincinatti Dancing Pigs, anyone?). There's a Parrothead connection to the show, too. Tim Krekel is the guest on the next episode I ha...

Re: Who else here hates "Yellow Submarine"?
I've been out of the Parrothead loop for most of the summer, so I'm probably the only one here who hasn't heard JB's cover. I'll reserve judgement until I hear it, but I've got to say that every other version of it is pretty annoying. Maybe he could put it in the middle of the set, so those who like...

Steve Goodman, John Prine, Jimmy Buffett...Al Vacado, Kitty Litter, Marvin Gardens. Hilarious. Wish I could have seen Steve live. Never had the chance. Both he and Prine were big influences on Jimmy's music and he has covered a few of their songs. Which Prine song did he cover? I'd like to see him ...

Re: end of the Ipod?
I love my ipod. I'm on the go all the time and it really is convenient. I have 22,431 songs, 1031 podcasts (mostly old time radio shows, but also a couple of lectures, sermons, talk shows, and a couple of music shows like Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour...now if we can just get them, to podcast Americ...

Hi long time reader first time poster. I turned my uncle onto Jimmy about 3 yrs ago and like many of us fell head first into being a parrothead. My uncle died in a house fire yesterday. For his funeral we are wanting to play a song or two of Jimmys music, but right now im having a hard time coming ...

Re: your first drink across a bar..
I don't remember the bar, I just remember I was with my brother in law. I'm going to take a guess and say it was at Maloney's in Margate. Probably around 16 back around 1983 or '84. I was always big for my age so I got served in a lot of bars. Very rarely ever got carded. Kind of all runs together n...

Re: Jimmy Sings about a Bar...South Florida
I love Alabama Jacks. There have been a lot of times when it would have been a lot more convenient to fly directly to Key West, but it's our tradition to kick off the party by stopping at Alabama Jack's.
It just wouldn't be the same if we didn't.

I used to manage a Walgreens and "Mexico" and "Take Another Road" were on regular rotation on the canned music program we had there. There was a third song, too, but I can't remember what it was.

Currently listening to a podcast of the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour. If you're not familiar with Woodsongs, it's a show that features acoustic folk, country, bluegrass, blues, and jazz music. A lot of the artists are lesser known, but are extremely talented. I've discovered many of my favorite art...
