Damn. Someone offended by Buffett being self-admittedly wasted? I suggest keeping a very safe distance from You Had To Be There and the Radio Margaritaville broadcast from a few years ago then. A choir boy he ain't.

So far I remain unimpressed by anything I've heard by Shooter which is usually the case when it comes to the offspring of famous parents (with the exception of Jeff Buckley and Hank III).

I'm a fan of their work but I detest the Mike Love era version of the band that insists upon refering to themselves as The Beach Boys. I also wouldn't confuse a piece of crap like "Kokomo" with anything from their prime.

I don't think it's Prine's best work by any stretch of the imagination but it's still a very remarkable album for someone that's been around for as long as he has.

I also named it as one of my favorite albums of last year.

Man, I can't wait for this. Anybody know what songs are on this? If you had read the remainder of the press release I posted the link to above you would have seen the songs listed there. http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/index.jsp?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20060501005570&news...

I'm still diggin' in (I'm on my second listen). While I definitely like it I can't say it lives up to the pre-release hype of being "their best album since ______".

I like Counting Crows (at least their early stuff anyway).

Other than that I'd say there's more music out there than meets the ear that doesn't get played on the radio. At least broadcast radio. Satellite radio is a whole other thing.

Speaking in general terms I think studio recordings edge out live ones iin cases like Sgt. Pepper's or Pet Sounds where studiocraft comes into play as a tool.

drug runners that would make sense It's not out of the question. Once, many years ago a friend spotted a high powered speed boat painted jet black cutting through the waterway at a very high rate of speed with no running lights. Your average every day fisherman trying to be the first out to sea in ...

They had a "prime"?

Actually some early Journey (pre-Perry) isn't bad and even some of the stuff they did with Perry is standable but the vast majority of their overwrought power ballads helped contribute to the overall suckiness of radio during their hitmaking years.

Jah, I have to agree with you on that one...the segue from "Wonder why we ever go home" into "Landfall" is awesome. I listen to those two songs over and over again just because when Landfall gets going you can just hear the excitement that was in the Fox Theatre! Gotta LOVE THAT...

another possibility: sometimes owners of m/v's will travel to deserted islands and camp out. they will anchor the vessels up to 100-200 yards away, then use a smaller transport boat to reach shore. maybe the vessel was not anchored properly and drifted away during the night. although this is a toug...

The Lie Clocks

A man died and went to Heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw an endless wall of clocks. He asked, "What are all those clocks?" St. Peter answered, "Those are the Lie Clocks. Everyone who ever lived on Earth has a Lie Clock. Every time you lie, the hands...

To me, the very essence of music is found in live performance. That's not to discount studio recordings at all (by any artist) but there's nothing quite like hearing music being made in the moment.

Re: Friday Fives - Really Random w/ Bonus Question!

2. What is your favorite number? Damn, this thread has come this far and no one has said 69 yet? That must be some sort of new land speed record. That, or more people are into "spooning" these days. Me? I love to spork. Can't we just cuddle? As long as it involves a ceiling fan, a bungee ...
