The boombox has it's own antenna on it. Ours can be left on the box or taken off to move around for better reception. The most we have had to do with ours is stick the antenna out a door or window, or just move it close to a door or window.

There is a spray- I think sour apple flavored- at pet stores that you just spray on whatever she is licking/chewing. They don't like the taste, so they eventually stop!
