Re: Just booked a trip...KW in April!

I went about 6 weeks ago for the first time ... OMG, we loved it. Unfortunately, I think on the first rip, you just kind of take it all in, and try to figure out what KW is all about, and really miss alot. My next trip, I'm gonna stop rushing all over, and just grab a bar stool and chilllllllllllll...

As far as trying to get something for $100 or less is not very likely in Key West. There is one place that might be close to what you are looking to spend. The Key West Hostel and Seashell Motel. They have motel rooms available according to their website, starting at $75 a night, slightly higher dur...

There are tram tours to take up the hill or you can walk. You're welcome for the previous links. Lots of stuff to do in DC. Have a ...

While wandering around the Mall, stop in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and check out the Hope Diamond. It is up in the Mineral exhibit on the second floor. Pretty amazing. There are other equally great pieces there. It's worth a stop to see. The Wright Brothers plane at the Aerospace Mus...

The company I use to work for had a good rate at the Helmsley Middletowne. It is around the corner from the Waldorf Astoria on 48th. Nice hotel. Good location for Grand Central, Park Avenue, Rockefeller Center. It might be worth giving them a call and see what type of group rate they can do. http://...

If you do want to do the White House tour make sure and get in touch with your state senator or congressman's office soon. There are very limited spots available for the tour and a pretty good screening process that has to be done before giving you an answer. Have at least a couple of possible days ...

castaway, not sure if you've done the Trails of Margaritaville Tour. It's now called Trails and Tales of Key West. If not, it is a fun walking tour with plenty of info on Jimmy and his time in Key West. Plenty of drink stops along the way. They start at Captain Tony's. The time listed on the website...

Pepe's does sound good for breakfast. But if I had one day to do breakfast in Key West, I would do Blue Heaven. A nice little bike ride or even a decent walk from the cruise ship pier. All items are great on Blue Heaven's menu. Our fav is Lobster Benedict with the Key Lime Hollandaise sauce. Add a s...

From what I have seen the gathering, The Parrothead Ball, that has been in Janesville is now at Lake Geneva. They do have a bus that will take you from Janesville to Lake Geneva and back. Check: http://www.volcanoexpress.com/PHBall.htm for more details. I am sure others on the board will have more i...

Don't know if they do it, but I would check with Blue Heaven. They have food and booze and it would be private, if you can rent the whole place. But that's just me. It would be funky. I can see the chickens in the wedding picture. :D

Or maybe even B.O.'s Fishwagon!!!!!

Just because I'm from Iowa don't think that I'm not familiar with great BBQ, even in New York City. I have run into people before from the city that ask how the heck someone from Iowa knows about Virgil's. Just know that it's great BBQ. Take that from someone that heads down to Kansas City regularly...

Check out Virgil's BBQ. They are just east of ABC's studio at Times Square about a half a block. They have excellent Barbeque and a huge selection of beers from around the world. Try the Savannah Salad also. I recommend them highly. We always eat here when we are in the city. They are roughly 10 - 1...

I'll agree with Columbia. Go for lunch, it's pretty reasonable then. The 1905 salad is great along with the Cuban Sandwich. You can get a half salad and half cuban sandwich during lunch. There are also plenty of entrees to choose from. Save room for dessert, try the Brazo Gitano "Cien Años"...
