I run a nice, respectable, bitchin post here. If you get too rowdy with your funky pictures and words I'm gonna have to ask my friend Harvey to throw your ass out! :-)

I was semi-honored to be mistaken for JJW even if he's got about 14 years on me.

Boats to Build/License to Chill

As long as we are beating this to death. My first time seeing JJW at the Bowery Ballroom in like 2001 he did this song- the only tune from Cowboy Boots he did that nite. Just the other week in NYC in front of BBKings, some tourist asked me if I was JJW. i was wearing a JJW t-shirt at the time.

JJW/Requests

PH4ever

My mistake- I left out the :-). JJW claims he doesn't take requests and officially he doesn't. I have been to see him live on several occasions- recently at BBKings- he broke his own rule.

Oddest Place You Ever Saw a JB Show

Either Belmont Racetrack on Long Island circa 1978 or Radio City Music Hall circa 1980. Don't ask me who circa is. :-)

Boats to Build/License to Chill

As others have noted, Jimmy has decided to cover this great Guy Clark tune which most recently (1997) appeared on Jerry Jeff Walker's Cowboy Boots and Bathin Suits. Back in 2002, when Jimmy "crashed' JJW's summer gig at Stephen Talkhouse, Jerry Jeff did the song. Can't tell from the setlist whe...

I'll definitely never sleep with Terry Funk; maybe if I was really funked up.

It just came to me. The wrestler that DAC reminds me of is Terry Funk. Spell it right. :-)

Rush

I saw Rush recently at The Birchmere in Alexandria Virginia. Tom was in great voice and sure can tell some tales. Didn't do "Jamaica Say You Will" or Joshua Gone Barbados, but what the hell. A real performer with a great stage presence, sense of humor and timing.

DAC

I'm a little confused about DAC. On the one hand Steve Goodman was apparently thrilled that DAC covered "You Never Even Call Me By My Name". I just don't think Coe was smart enough to realize the song was a satiric paean to country music. Seems to me that "Divers" was a JB ripoff...

Turnabout it is. Seems autobiographical and real. Wish he would pull this one of the the old treasure chest some show soon.

Ballad of SJ

Jahfin

You are a good soul. I knew that JB didn't write the Ballad. Agree with you on Semi-True Stories. To me the definitive tune JB didn't write but wished he did was Bruce Cockburn's "Pacin the Cage". Jimmy should close every show with this tune.

Ballad of Spider John

A great tune and a personal favorite. Too bad JB don't write em like this no more. Lyrics are tricky but hell who cares/ Sure beats Math Sucks.

As Jimmy would say- "So close". Alas the answer is found in the treasure chest. Part of the canon, that's a pirate's cannon.

Ellis Dee was never a matriculated member of the original CRB. He flunked the drug test. I'll announce the winning answer by COB today.
