I was still so disappointed by the Indy no-show, that I hadn't yet contacted Fandango to get my refund. Surprisingly, I had an email from them today saying they had already put through the refund. It's nice to see that someone (Fandango, in this case) actually used the available technology in a mean...

Okay, I'm naive on this stuff, but how can someone (Toby Keith) appear on an album "Courtesy of...(their label)" and then when the single is to be released, the label comes back and creates problems? I don't know the business side of this, but it seems quite "small" to me. Did To...

Good work, ILPH -- another member of the phlock! I should have headed your way and watched the show in St. L, given our problems in Indy. Then I could have stayed with cousins in your hometown (where my mom is from). My other thought had been to catch a flight to NO and try to scalp a ticket down th...

How long did the entire show go? Was there an intermission?

ST. SOMEWHERE: Sounds like you had a great time and I'm happy for you and your sister. I wasn't in NO, and I didn't get to see the show (no power in Indy), but just reading through the thread, I think people are upset at others in the audience who were disruptful or annoying -- I don't see anyone po...

3 1/2 4 hours away from Myrtle
SouthernSeas, I think your consolation on this one is having a neighborhood Margaritaville Cafe. :P

You probably even have electricity there...unlike here in Indy...we couldn't even do shadow-parrots (puppets).

I always make a soundtrack for Jimmy's books and am looking forward to doing that soon. Conched: Maybe you've shared your book soundtracks on here before, but I'd really be interested to know what you're done for the other books as well as what criteria you've used in putting the list together. Tha...

Thanks all for the stories about last night; sounds like it was very well done and fun. I'm curious as to a couple of other things: How much did he read from the book and for how long? Did he just do a couple of quick reads from early in the book or was it a significant part of the program? If there...

Great comments and insights. Isn't the Willie Singer charachter supposed to be (at least somewhat) autobiographical? That may explaing the Captain Keed stuff to some extent. I actually thought that was a very interesting twist on religion, heroes and cultures -- as Conched said, "something to b...

Okay, I'm really into A Salty Piece of Land; there's some great stuff in there (hence, my sig lines). Here are a couple you may want to consider:

"Some days, there is just magic in the air."

"We always knew that the light would one day come our way."

Congrats on the wedding!

Coastal Confessions: Fins sink so low in Indy

Well, back at home and no show to see...the theater had a blackout at 7:15 and at 9:00 they canceled the show and sent us away. There was a great group assembled to have a fun time. People were dressed almost every parrothead way; I have no doubt there would have been singing and dancing. We e...

Keep voting for Jimmy! I hope they promote this to all parrotheads during the event tonight as awareness is the key. Irregardless of the category (we all know he doesn't neatly fit into just one), he deserves the recognition and this is the opportunity. Email your friends to vote, too! :pirate:

Parrotheads freak people out???!!!

Here's a Buffett quote I pulled from a Dec. 6 USA Today article: Buffett can't do book signings, because "they turn into Parrothead events, and people at book stores get freaked out." :o I think that would be all the more reason to do book signings! Either way, it seems he's letting the te...

I finished the book on Thursday evening and then I couldn't post anything due to tech problems (I was going nuts Friday :( ) because I was so excited. Bottom line, I thought the book was great; Buffett's best. He did a great job of creating interesting characters with fun and wild adventures, and ad...

Great idea! Another approach might be to build the CD off of songs mentioned in the book. Here are a few that jumped out at me:

Take Another Road
Tryin to Reason With Hurricane Season
Beach House on the Moon
Why Don't We Get Drunk

I got my book the morning of 11/30 at Borders and it included the CD. By the way, I've discovered there's a reason why the CD is inside the back cover of the book. If you can stand it, wait to play the CD until you get to that point of the book (almost at the end -- you'll know when). Of course, I c...

6-year old author Savannah Jane

I noticed on inside back of ASPOL that Savannah Jane is listed as being a co-author on Jolly Mon at the age of 6. :o I think she was actually closer to 9 at the time (1979-88) (Jimmy said 10 today on Regis and Kelly). Funny error or pretty impressive to be writing books when most kids are just learn...
