Re: Set Lists

Overall the set lists for Big Top have been great!!! they will never be perfect and he will always play Buffett 101 songs because thats what gets the masses in the seats(along with the tailgate experience). as long as he pulls some rarer or little played songs from the vault it will be a great year...

Re: Set Lists

Agreed. I dont miss wdwgdas or BEG. My assessment so far though is that the songs he has picked that are "lesser known" have been played frequently on recent tours. In other words, dig deeper. Totally agree with this. The set lists so far on the Big Top tour have not been that different than the us...

Re: Set Lists

Btw, WDWGDAS was an every show staple for many years but they finally retired it a couple of years ago. For those of us who have been going to Buffett shows for over 20 years, I absolutely don't miss it and hope they keep it retired. Also, am very pleased to see they shook up the set list a bit more...

Re: Set Lists

I hear ya. I've posted several times on here over the past couple of years about the repetitiveness of Jimmy's setlists given the wealth of great material he has to choose from. Then you always get people responding who say the show would be ruined for them if he doesn't play Brown-Eyed Girl, or Vol...

Re: A Few Thoughts on the Tampa Show

take out "Everybody's on the Phone" and "Creola" and throw in "Turn Up the Heat and Chill the Rose" once in awhile or maybe some "Take Another Road" or "Women Going Crazy on Caroline Street" but whatever, atleast he's playign different stuff, though it's only the first concert lol....those couple o...

Re: A Few Thoughts on the Tampa Show

Another candidate for the "give it a rest" list: Southern Cross

Again, a great cover, but it becomes less special when you know he's going to play it every show.

Re: A Few Thoughts on the Tampa Show

I agree with ya, capnbobby. I am happy to see "Phone Doesn't Ring," "Creola," and "Knees of my Heart" on the playlist. I also think "Everybody's on the Phone" is a tremendously weak second set opener, as is "Bank of Bad Habits" as the encore set opener. "Jamaica Mistaka" is OK, but there are so many...

Re: 10/24/2009 - Mountain View, CA

Thanks for the vids! I was there. Had a blast. Buffet and the band got the place on its feet, that's for sure. I was heartened to see many parrotheads in attendance singing along. The only downside is I wished Buffett played for another two hours! :pirate:

Re: Who's Going to Bridge School Benefit 10/24 (Mt. View CA)

I'll be there. Managed to get section 203 seats about halfway back so I won't be stuck on the cavernous (and crowded) lawn. I'm really interested to know if Jimmy is going to be playing solo acoustic or if he's bringing any Coral Reefers with him. Should be an interesting show and perhaps a chance t...

Re: "Buffett set for Bridge"

The Bridge School Benefit is great. Usually it is an acoustic event so I would not count on seeing the entire band. Maybe, it is Jimmy only. If past concert history is a guide, you could expect Jimmy to perform for about 30 minutes and then Neil Young will join him for a few songs. When Neil closes...

Re: "Incommunicado"

It's one of my favorites as well. It'd be nice to see him play it live one of these days. I've been seeing Buffett for over 20 years and don't recall if I've ever seen him do it live. Of course there's a lot I don't recall from all those shows but it's definitely a live rarity.

I see the Best Western seems to be out of rooms. Anybody know what the next closest hotel is?

Re: Have You Seen Jimmy Perform "God's Own Drunk" in Person?

At the Fillmore in 2007 and then at least one other time back in the late '80s or early '90s. Never one of my favorite songs live.

Re: Songs Buffett Needs to Retire From the Live Shows

OK, looking at the set list of the last show (Tampa) I'm actually quite pleased with the variety on that set list. I'm going to see him in a few weeks in Concord and hope to catch a few of those tunes (My Head Hurts, We Are the People, Coast of Carolina, etc.). Good job, Jimmy!

Re: Songs Buffett Needs to Retire From the Live Shows

this subject is moot peeps :pirate: dude is retiring soon & you want him to cater to your whims??? see you at mile 0 when he plays on May 5th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if "cater to my whims" is the point of this thread. I'd just like to see a little more variety at his shows. You'd thin...

Re: Songs Buffett Needs to Retire From the Live Shows

Ahh, but isn't the question more, what standards do we want Jimmy to keep in the shows? My personal list would be 1. Come Monday, when Jimmy does it alone, it is still breathtaking 2. Fins, audience participation is a must 3. Margaritaville, we might not be here if not for this one 4. APLAF, see Co...

Re: Songs Buffett Needs to Retire From the Live Shows

I am a 33 year buffett fan and refuse to belive that any buffett fan on the face of this earth would want any song retired. Jimmy can play any song he wants. WHY ? because its his show done the way he wants. Thats why we love him. He has always done things the way he wanted. That is why we love him...

Re: Songs Buffett Needs to Retire From the Live Shows

Can't imagine a show without APLAF..... And when I hit the lottery it'll be JB, Fingers and Mac playing APLAF during the show I'll be booking. 8) Agreed. I had front row center for my 40th and Jimmy sang APLAF solo on a barstool 10 feet in front of me. I definitely don't mind seeing APLAF every show.

Re: Songs Buffett Needs to Retire From the Live Shows

I don't know about the rest of ya'll, but I don't like seeing the words "Buffett" and "retire" in the same UNIVERSE, much less the same sentence. :o :o :o :o :o Good point. Sorry 'bout that. Still glad he's touring and I'm still going year after year. It's just too bad that after 20 years of seeing...
