Anybody listening to WZLX in Boston today?

I managed to get on the air at 1pm today (100.7 WZLX in Boston) and they let me request Southern Cross from Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays! I work with a couple other parrotheads and I made their day.

Re: Robert Randolph and The Family Band

Yup....saw Buddy Guy last summer (2005) at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, MA. Buddy is the man! Eric Johnson opened up for him which was a nice treat as well. I saw him not long ago at Harrah's Casino in Metropolis, Illinois. "Mustang Sally" and "Voodoo Child" burned down ...

Out of all the east coast venues....Great Woods is the way to go. I read on a similar post last year that someone referred to it as the "king" of all Buffett venues...you just have to go to understand. One of the few places Jimmy still does a multiple-night stand.

Re: Robert Randolph and The Family Band

I was amazed at the large amount of young people in the audience in St. Louis who came to see the new master of blues/funk and his amazing skills on the pedal steel guitar. At 40, I was one of the older guys there but RR's energy, passion and pure talent drew me into the pit of revelers in front of...

Saw him open up for Eric Clapton a couple of summers ago....exceptional young artist. He got to come out during Clapton's encore and play with him as well which was really cool.

Winwood and Townshend pay tribute to Jim Capaldi

Here's an article from today's billboard.com news about two of my favorite artists (Winwood and Townshend) working on a tribute show to former Traffic drummer, Jim Capaldi.

Really enjoyed the show on Saturday night. The Who are probably my favorite band ever...so anytime I have a chance to see them in something special. Since I've seen them live many times, I was actually more interested in hearing them play their new material rather than the old classics. The new stuf...

The Who!

Been meaning to bring up a Who thread for a while now. I missed their show in Boston back in September as I was away on holiday, but now I have my chance as they return to Boston tomorrow night. Being one of my favorite bands of all time, I'm pretty psyched to see them finally playing new material. ...

String Cheese Incident to disband

Not sure if there are many jam-band fans here, but one of the most well-known jam bands on the scene today, the String Cheese Incident, is breaking up after their current set of shows. They have been around for 13 years now and have really built up an impressive fan base. They have been getting more...

you know what? I kinda would actually prefer if Peter Gabriel sat this "reunion" out :-? He is still way too creative and prolific on his own to have to sit through the Top Forty slag that the group put out in the later years (and sold millions of, too!) I would still go see a Genesis sho...

Genesis reunion

Well it looks like its official that Genesis will reunite as a trio to tour next year and perhaps record new material. They are supposed to have the press conference November 7th. The original rumors were that Peter Gabriel was going to be involved which would have been really interesting. http://ww...

Wow what a bummer. I took the opportunity to go see Phil & Friends this summer for the first time. I wanted to see him play live before he calls it quits. I think he's 66 years old now?? Judging by the sounds of his post, it sounds like they caught it very early and he expects to make a full rec...

Paul Simon

Caught Paul Simon for the first time in concert last night at the Agganis Arena in Boston. One word - Wow! What a show. I go to dozens of live concerts every year and this could have been the best one so far this year. His band was awesome and he was sounding great. A superb set list also. One cool ...

Lindsey Buckingham

Not sure if there are any Fleetwood Mac fans here, but for anybody interested...I caught Buckingham's show at the Orpheum in Boston this past Friday night. The show was a nice mix of his new CD, his older material, and of course some Fleetwood classics. He's definitely one of the most underrated gui...

Well I experienced this show on Tuesday night in Providence. Its a really different experience from seeing the full-band tour. Its basically just James and Larry Goldings, his piano player up there. The thing that really makes this show worth checking out is you basically get the inside stories on a...
