Years between concerts?
I have a question for some of the long time parrottheads. Did Buffett tour between 1981 and 1986 and between 1986 and 1993? Specifically I'm looking for concerts in No. California. Any memories?

No memories for me since I just started going to concerts 10 or so years ago.PIR8-4T wrote:I have a question for some of the long time parrottheads. Did Buffett tour between 1981 and 1986 and between 1986 and 1993? Specifically I'm looking for concerts in No. California. Any memories?

So it looks like there were no formal tours in 1977 or 1980.... I can't imagine he wasn't on the road then. Did the tours from the previous years just continue? (e.g. 1976-77 -- no CILCIA tour, 1979-80)?? Just curious.

In 1977 he did a group thing.... I saw him at Sunfest in Lakeland, FL . A 2 day beachy Woodstock thing with the likes of Melanie, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Poco, Orleans and a slew more.Quiet and Shy wrote:So it looks like there were no formal tours in 1977 or 1980.... I thought the Eagles Hotel California tour was in 1977....but the album came out in 1976... Either way, Jimmy opened for them and I saw the concerts in Tampa and Gainesville.

I have been going to shows in California since 1980. I have never skipped a year of seeing shows, because Jimmy has never skipped a year of playing shows .
Yes he has cancelled a show or two due to family emergency, but that just gives one reason for a Road Trip. He always made up his cancelled shows as well.

Re: Years between concerts?
The 1979 tour with three names and three legs to my recollection carried over into 1980, just as did the Domino College Tour from 1995 to 1996. He actually began the Domino College Tour in California 95 came back for round 2 of domino college in 96, and then got him back again in 96 for the Banana wind. My mind might be a bit foggy, I will check my facts, but I think I had a moment of clarity and got this one right.conched wrote:No memories for me since I just started going to concerts 10 or so years ago.PIR8-4T wrote:I have a question for some of the long time parrottheads. Okay, funny story, I actually bought my copy of Hot Water used, so one day, I was flipping through the book and found a cutout from one of our local newspapers. The article talked about Jimmy opening the Hot Water tour at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. I just thought I'd add that! If I get around to it, I'll scan and post that article.
I still love old magazines and Snickers bars....
I know this is nitpicking but in, let's see the ticket stub, in April of 1995, before Barometer Soup came out, he had The Last Slice Of Fruitcake Tour. How long it was I don't know, probably just a month or so.
And then there was the Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays tour in 2000. Was that on there? Now I can't remember. That 1979 triple named tour is ridiculous!
Where is the Living Room tour? What about Riddles In The Sand? Last Mango? Now I've totally forgotten if they are on there or not. I'll read it again.
I loved the Somewhere Over China tour - the best the Coral Reefers have ever sounded. Jimmy's Jump Up was great. The Outpost Tour was outstanding. Wasn't that the tour where the bottle would drop down from the ceiling and he'd pull out "a request" and do something like Cowboy In The Jungle or something obscurely classic? I could swear it was that tour.

I have entered BW and reviewed the list. Pretty impressive work all the tours and locations. However there is one missing, either the summer of 1989 or 1990 I attended a Buffett concert in Auburn AL. At the Auburn University basketball arena. I had an argument with another "Buffett fan" who said he never played Auburn. I have about 12 witnesses who made a rode trip with me for that show. It was a fun show!
"At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder...what would Jimmy Buffett do?"
