I tried it at the KW M'ville. It was ok, nothing special but rather light. Not at all like Corona in my opinion.

I saw it available at a few locations in KW, but didn't buy any because I had to fly out.

I'd like to see it up here, but I don't think it will change my drinking habits all that much.

cecoleman wrote:My question is, are you supposed to, or is it assumed that you drink the Land Shark Lager with a lime like you would a Corona? I wondered when I heard of this beer if was Budweiser's replacement for Tequiza? I really liked Tequiza as it was just like Corona but the lime taste was built in so you didn't need it. I heard they were discontinuing Tequiza this past summer, and thought Land Shark could be the next Tequiza like Sierra Mist replaced "Storm" from Pepsi...same drink, new name.

You should NEVER use LIME in a corona. Only reason why that was started was the crappy cleaning system Mexicans had in Mexico back when they first produced Corona. Since you would return your bottles, and they would not wash them out-- the citric acids in the Lime would steralize the bottle making it somewhat more sanatary.

or when getting close to the state line in Lower Alabama and stopping at the Pig/Publix/Winn Dixie... Abita is not a bad addition to the beer cooler

I received this email from the AB folk today:

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Web site and e-mail Anheuser-Busch. We appreciate your interest in our company and the Land Shark Lager brand!

That being said, we apologize for our delayed response. Land Shark Lager is a refreshing, drinkable "island" lager brewed by Margaritaville Brewing Co., an Anheuser-Busch affiliate. It will be available in Las Vegas and throughout Florida in January 2007.

At your earliest convenience, please provide us with your postal zip code and we will do our best to help you find a Lank Shark or two at a retailer in your area.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Again, thank you for contacting Anheuser-Busch. Please let us know if you have additional comments or questions.

Whoever wrote that should be fired. They're brewing a beer that's drinkable? Really? I thought that was the point of buying beer.

I thought beer was for freezing into a beercicle so you could eat it, not drink it. WOW! I guess I'll stop freezing it now. I didn't know beer was DRINKABLE.

There's a Landshark Lager billboard on I-10 here going into Jax, which makes sense considering this is where it's brewed.
Just found out that my wife's friend works there. I need to figure out how to work that to my advantage

"drinkable" is code for "a beer so lacking in taste or body you can pound one after another and be drunk before you get bloated".

Kinda like a wine that is "quafable".

I think that's intended to be a direct slam at their competitor.... basically implying Corona is NOT drinkable

That's the first I've heard or seen of anything happening outside of FL or the M'villes. My guess is either Dayton is a test market for broader distribution or you got bad info. Let us know if you hear more. :)

You do understand, don't you, that Corona is owned by Grupo Modelo, which is 52% owned by A-B.....

I understand and have posted that several times on BN.

That's part of what makes this is such an intriguing strategic move by A-B. (It would have made much more sense for LS Lager to be a Miller product.) Viewing the packaging, promo info, etc. their competitive target is clearly Corona.

My daughter has a friend who is coming back from FL this Sat.
He's bringing me a case.
This is just like the old days when people would bring Coors from Colorado.
It tastes better when you can't get it locally.

Here is a little more info on the LSL and a competing Miller product. It comes from Ad Age. Funny, they mention Jimmy a few times but they spell Buffett with one T throughout.
