Play the songs we want to hear

Post by MikeInNOLA »

Gotta admit, Jimmy seems to be listening a bit to what we want...but, ran across this site today while checking up on the Reverend Horton Heat (heck yeah, I like him too!): http://www.pickrset.com/

Man...I wish Jimmy would sign up! Now, if only there were a way for only folks with tickets to the show to determine the set list!

Back to my daydreaming~

There's another site similar that is like a petition to get a band to play a certain arena or town. I can't remember the site name

A few years back, the Rolling Stones had something similar. Fans could vote online for one song they wanted to hear. When it came to that point in the show, the Stones' website would show up on the big jumbotron, they'd see the winning song and then play it. I believe it was during the Bridges to Babylon tour.

Can you imagine the fights around here if Buffett ever opened it up to allow us to vote for just one song? :D

I'm sticking with my "play what he wants to play."

When he's having a good time, I'm having a good time.

And remember complainers, you could get Scarlet Begonias back ... great song, but, well, you know.

Food for thought:

I used to buy cigars from JR Cigars. A few years ago, they also had a nice forum. Well JR Cigars would have these "great" deals and sales, etc. on cigars that us "cigar connoisseurs" thought were just crap cigars that you would even let homeless people smoke....and we'd biatch about it on the forum.

And every time the owner of JR Cigars (Lew) would come on the forum and tell us that even though all of us cigar snobs thought the cigars in the deals were crap, they were invariably his best sellers and the deals would sell out over and over.

So put this in the "careful what you wish for" file.

Triumph - Magic Power Lyrics

Something's at the edge of your mind, you don't know what it is
Somethin' you were hopin' to find but your not sure what it is
Then you hear the music and it all comes crystal clear
The music does the talkin' says the things you want to hear

CHORUS:
I'm young, I'm wild and I'm free
I got the magic power of the music in me
(Repeat)

She climbs into bed, pull the covers overhead and turns herlittle radio on
She's had a rotten day so she hopes the DJ's gonna play herfavorite song
It makes her feel much better, brings her closer to her dreams
A little magic power makes it better that it seems

She's young now, she's wild now, she wants to be free
She gets the magic power of the music in me

If you're thinkin' it over but you just can't sort it out
Do you want someone to tell you what they think it's all about
Are you the one and only who's sad and lonely, reachin' for thetop
Well the music keeps you goin' and it's never gonna stop
Never gonna stop
Never gonna, never gonna, never gonna stop

The world is full of compromise, and infinite red tape
But the music's got the magic, it's your one chance for escape
So turn me on - turn me up - it's your turn to dream
A little magic power makes it better than it seems

CHORUS
