Tigerblood and Jimmy

Post by DOKKEN88 »

Did anyone else see this article about Margaritaville Enterprises filing for trademark rights on "TIGERBLOOD" for use in Vodka and energy drinks. Please tell me that Jimmy is not trying to cash in on the idiot bandwagon. Please tell me this was already in the works...Please Jimmy say it aint so.

That's OK. I've already got an energy drink to compete with Red Bull. I call it Adonis DNA.

It seems Margaritaville, Inc. has sunk to a new low. What's really funny is him trademarking a name someone else came up with when he's been so overprotective of everything Margaritaville/Parrothead related.

Im just shocked they would "sink that low". My other half is so disgusted she said I have lost all respect and I dont want to go to another show... I was like hey now.. slow down. It's going to take alot more than that for me to jump ship but still the same. Poor guy has to feed his family somehow!!!

Since Sheen recently endorsed Buffett (well, sorta), it's possible he's onboard with this. If so, that may even be worse than Buffett choosing to market it on his own.

This only increases my respect for Meglaritamart, Inc., the business....

Which I can easily separate from Jimmy Buffett, the touring performer ....

.... who is completely different than the James Buffett of political statements ....

and not at all the same as Mr. Buffett, the boss responsible for thousands of employees ...

nor the Jimmy Buffett who writes songs from time to time ....

and I certainly won't judge "that old dude who surfs" by the decisions made by a corporate version of himself.

Nope.

I can understand the decision to grab the rights to the name. My panties are not in a bunch over this.

Maybe that's just me.

Mine are not a wad either but my goodness..has he no shame! I totally agree with you on the fact that I seperate the singer/concerts from the political Jimmy. Heck..wish I would have done it first!
I also understand there is a cooporation to run but I don't care how much money I had.. I would never associate my name or company with anything even close to the "Tigerblood" idiot! One would think Mr. Buffett would have just a little bit of class or whatever you want to call it. Maybe he patened this so that Mr. Sheen will have to buy them from him if he wants to use them..Now that's what I call SMART!

I've been a Parrothead for twenty-five years; I always will be a Parrothead. Jimmy's in no danger of losing me as a fan, but I'm capable of being objective about my heroes. Back in 1974, Buffett published a song called "Making Music for Money," which is all about not making music for money and making music for yourself. Funny how times change! The restaurants, the T-shirts (of which I have too many to wear), the stadiums, the Adirondack chairs, the concoction makers, the boat shoes, the flip-flops, the Margaritaville wallets, the chips, the guacomole, and now the Tigerblood. When is enough enough? I miss the old days, when the music was about the music.

I am thoroughly disappointed in anyone bringing attention to Charlie Sheen. Either Mr. Sheen is insane - in which case it's just mean to make fun of him - or he's a complete narcissist - in which case he doesn't deserve our attention. I'm doing my best to take Surf Pirate's advice and separate Jimmy from his corporation, but ..... really? This stinks and shows absolutely no class. I really thought Jimmy was better than that.

It's also important to remember the source. Has this story been reported by any news organization (and I use that term very loosely here) outside of TMZ?

Who knows if it's even his personal idea, someone in the corporation might have made the decision.
I can tell you I WON'T be buying it whatever it is.

Mr. Buffett has sunk to a new low. I've put up, in the past, with all the crap he sells, but this......... I just can't believe it.
