With JB being so incredibly popular in Asia, is anyone surprised that we fail to see a low turnout of Asians?

I haven't posted on Buffett News for a long time. One of the reasons is the negativity of threads like this. A while back, someone came on this website and posted a similar thread to this because he/she thought it was a legitimate question. Whoever started this thread started it out of sarcasm or just a swarthy nastiness. A while back, Surf Pirate, I believe it was, raised the question: Has Buffett News lived past its utility, especially now that there are other sites like Facebook? When I see threads like this, I think that the answer is yes. Buffett News has outlived its utility. In short, there has to be something more meaningful to life than the meanness.

The guy shows 2 posts made to date. There was a third but it was removed and that I believe is why he's mad.
If I'm wrong I'll apologize for what I said about him just trying to stir the pot.

There are also trolls on FB. Not everyone signs up using their real names and even if they do, that doesn't stop them from engaging in trollish behavior. In fact, there's at least a couple of "I Hate Jimmy Buffett" groups on FB. If you want to see some outright hate and vitriol directed at Buffett, go there. Somehow groups like that are allowed on FB but I'm not sure why. Anyone that goes out of their way to hate someone that much has real issues. Yes, message boards and listservs have largely become a thing of the past but I don't think they've outlived their usefulness. With a few exceptions, you just don't get the same level as interaction on FB (or Twitter) that you do from a message board. As a friend recently said in regards to FB, "We no longer converse; we exclaim". Eventually FB will run it's course and be replaced by something else, just like MySpace before it.

Considering the many times that Jimmy mentions manatees and whales in his lyrics, I am concerned that we don't see more of these large sea creatures at his concerts. Is anyone else concerned about the lack of manatees and whales in JB's audience?? (Just trying to lighten things up ...) [smilie=happydance.gif]

Not to mention Eskimos.

The Eskimo ladies tend to blubber but the guys have a whale of a good time.

Oh but Cap'n Bobby for every thread like this one, there are threads full of caring, loving friends who support each other in times of trouble and enjoy good times together. BN has not outlived its utility to those of us who use it to connect with dear friends. I'm not on facebook and I have many treasured friends on this board.

Cap'n, I do not do Facebook or any of the other so-called 'social media' platforms, and I'm sure I'm not the only holdout.  If this place turns out the lights and goes black, it is definitely going to affect this one particular Buffett fan.
I might even have to sign on to BuffittWorld.com ..... :D

If we "fail to see a low turnout of Asians" that must mean that Asians do in fact turn out in droves. But you would have to have at least a rudimentary understanding of the English language to figure that out.

You won't see any Asians. They don't allow big cameras.
