The US Festival

Post by CaptainP » July 16, 2013 4:56 pm

I was listening to the radio today and I heard discussion of a festival that was held back in 1982 and 1983, and I had never heard of this (granted I was too young to care at this point...I didn't go to my first real concert until 1986).

Does anyone recall the "US Festival", held in California and financed by Steve Wozniak?
Were any of you there?

I definitely remember those festivals (especially the first one). I think some of the performances have officially been released over the years but many haven't. I know a good bit of them can be found on YouTube. There's no Buffett, at least that I'm aware of.

I wanted to go in '82 but my wife was 8 and a half months pregnant with our first and I was on home arrest.

I was referring to officially (as well as unofficially) released video footage, thus the reference to YouTube.

I recently read about a possible official DVD release for the '83 US Festival.

I definitely remember the US Festival. I wanted to go so badly (I was in high school at the time) but my folks wouldn't let me. Of course in those days all I cared about was hard rock and metal so I wanted to see Van Halen, Motley Crue, Scorpions, Priest, etc.
