I haven't seen this posted anywhere so thought I would share it...

Basically the city council rejected a proposal by NFL Hall of Famer and all time sacks leader Bruce Smith to build a Margaritaville restaurant and hotel at the oceanfront. It would have been privately funded. The real estate it would sit on involves a lot of local politics so its not as simple as it may seem. Sad news though...

Re: VB says no to Margaritaville
Wow. Thanks for that link. I hadn't heard about this."In addition to a Margaritaville restaurant - which boasts a tropical-inspired menu and a long list of margaritas, including the "5 O'Clock Somewhere" - the developers proposed building a roughly 300-room hotel and conference center, outdoor-event lawn or ballroom, small water park, time shares and condominiums."
There must be more to this story than that article covers.
Vah Beach is my hometown. The Rudy Inlet Loop needs development,
and this sounds perfect. I don't want to see a strip mall down at that end of the beach.
Many years ago SLOPPY JOE'S opened a "chain version" of their restaurant
a short distance away down by the harbor and under the bridge.
It failed, but mostly because the location was not easy to access
for tourists and parking was limited.
This article says the idea has been "tabled", perhaps it will resurface again.
"There are no stupid questions. But there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots."

"Tabled" to me usually means "Jim! He's dead!"
And I have to admit the thread title confused me ... I thought we were talking Vero Beach. I blame baseball.
