2017/2018 I Don't Know Tour Set list tracker -- Updated 04/30/18

Post by urlcenter »

The 2017I Don't Know Tour kicks off this week with the 5/11/17 Show in Charleston South Carolina and that means it is time for a new set list tracker. This year's set list tracker, will be very similar to the set list tracker I created for the 2016 I Don't Know Tour. I will use the same format for tracking set list changes this year as I did last year by presenting the set list for the first show of the tour (5/11 Charleston SC) is presented in full with set list changes for all subsequent show posted below the first show's set list.

Like last years set list tracker I will be including an alphabetical listing of all songs played with a number indicating the number times each song was played. I will also include the Number of Songs played at each show list and the Shows by total number of songs played list as I did last year. Jimmy is playing some songs that have not been heard in some time, those songs will have a notation indicating the last time the song was performed live. The notations will appear in the set list change section of the tracker. One change this is that the show notes provided for each show will not be in orange this year but rather in Dark Blue.

Show notes: The 5/16 West Palm Beach shows was the shortest show thus far on the tour with just 24 songs. The only set list changes were the songs "Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season" and "Last Mango in Paris" This featured just a 2 song encore set concluding with the song "Brown Eyed Girl" while the song "Love and Luck" was dropped from the encore set. This was an outdoor show played in very warm temperatures which might have been a factor in the shorter set list and reduced number of encores

24 Nautical Wheelers

Show notes: The 5/18 Virginia Beach show featured the largest number of set list changes thus far with a total of four including Mac McAnally performing an instrumental solo "Little Martha". Like the West Palm Beach show on 5/16, the Virginia Beach show on 5/18 featured 24 songs in total including a two encore set. The two song encore set included the songs "One Particular Harbour" and an acoustic solo by Jimmy of the song "Nautical Wheelers" which was played on April 16, 2015 in Orlando Fl. The other set list changes in Virginia Beach included the songs "This Hotel Room" and Pencil Thin Mustache. Jimmy also took a short mid-show break during Mac McAnally's solo "Little Martha". The last song before the encore set was Brown Eyed Girl and right has the song started, Jimmy's Seafoam green Fender guitar seemed to cease working. This resulted in his guitar tech having to bring a replacement guitar on stage to Jimmy while the rest of band began performing "Brown Eyed Girl".

Show notes: The 6/6 Orange Beach show featured the shortest set list thus far on the 2017 tour with just 23 songs, the reason for this may have been due to very wet weather in the area of the concert venue. Set list changes included the song "I Will Play for Gumbo" which was played for the first time on the 2017 tour. The song "The Great Filling Station Holdup" was performed with a verse of "Midnight Rider" as a tribute to Greg Allman. Show Notes: The 6/11 Frisco show featured a 24 song set list making this show one of the shorter shows on the 2017 tour. The shorter set list was due to this show having ZZ Top as opening act. The song Great Filling Station Holdup was performed again as tribute to recently passed Greg Allman and the song "A Pirate Looks at 40" was performed as tribute to actor Adam West who passed away on June 10th. The 40th anniversary Changes in Latitudes medley was performed at this show and seems to be staying in the set list for the time being. The song "Last Man Standing" was performed for the first time on this tour and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top joined Jimmy and the CRB for this song. I wonder if the "summer leg" of the I DK 2017 tour will have a new style to the show and new songs.

I imagine they have to drop Gypsies/Take it Easy for the summer leg as all of that was done last year.

To me, it is a no brainer to play the whole CILCIA album. He could easily get away with it. Easily replace the Show Ponys and do an acoustic set with Wonder Why, Banana Rep, Lovely Cruise and even Biloxi. One I could see him dropping would be Biloxi or Wonder Why (even though I love both songs).

Track Listing:
1. "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" part of the big 10 (i guess really 13 now)
2. "Wonder Why We Ever Go Home" acoustic
3. "Banana Republics" acoustic
4. "Tampico Trauma" high energy, great tempo
5. "Lovely Cruise" acoustic
6. "Margaritaville" duh
7. "In the Shelter" sounded great last year and up tempo
8. "Miss You So Badly" easily can fit it in
9. "Biloxi" acoustic
10. "Landfall" high energy, underrated song that he has played numerous times in previous tours.

You figure an average of 25 song set. The big 13 plus 8 from CILCIA that are not played often still leaves room for 4-5 other songs!

Just bored at work and thought I would post my hopes and wishes for the "summer" leg. Fins up and Happy Friday junior!
