Good morning Bill and Deb!

It's 23 degrees and snow/freezing rain falling.

Happy that the Cardinals are in the baseball playoffs and the Dodgers are out!! :D

I'm outta here a little early so I can scrape off the car, and deal with stoopid drivers.

Good almost afternoon. Another 65 degree morning but it's beautiful out. I'll have to get outside and enjoy the weather.

I had the 3rd of 4 diabetes management class this morning. (My diabetes is very well controlled, but my new doc wanted me to go to class....so I am obliging) Back home and doing some chores before our daughter has her surgery tomorrow and comes home to recuperate for a few weeks before she can go back to her home. Not very motivated to get my chores done. In reality, I'd really like to take a nap. 😴
Have a great Thursday.

Congrats to Ron's Cardinals!
I'm a fan of the "Mighty Max" Scherzer so I've kinda been on the Nats bandwagon, especially since Bryce Harper exited the building. But my expectations for the Nats to go any further are very Loow

We stopped at Margaritaville Tulsa for lunch. Very nice casino and cafe. Great view of the river. It poured while we were there but stopped before getting back to the car.

If you have been to the casino in LV, this one is huge.
And remember, it flooded not long ago....

In my opinion, Bryce Harper is one of the most overrated players in the major leagues. And he flips his hair more than your average teenage girl.

Hi there! We ate out and shopped. An obnoxious toddler was screaming in Hobby Lobby. I really wanted to roar at the offender to show my anger at his intrusion. That would give him something to scream about! Discretion won out. I stayed silent. Back home, I hit the studio. I needed a stretcher board for a 5x shirt, so I cut up plywood. The shirt is 31 inches wide, which is 62 inches in diameter. It fits a BIG DUDE. I started more flamigoes too.

A few years before I retired, I was on the train going home from work one night. It was a Wednesday, which is matinee day in NYC when a lot of suburbanites come into NYC to see Broadway shows in the afternoon. The bad thing about that is if they take the train, they're going home at rush hour so the trains are even more crowded than usual. There was a woman with 2 kids on my train. One was very well behaved, the other one was a loud mouthed little brat and the mother was doing nothing to control him. I was reading the newspaper. As I turned the page I said, loud enough for the brat's mother to hear me, "Now I know why some animals eat their young."

Vent coming: the daughter that is having surgery tomorrow, is going to put me in an early grave. She has known for weeks about the upcoming procedure. Her sister went to help her pack for coming here to recoup. (She is restricted on lifting) She was going to stop and something to eat on her way here and was shocked to find that she had lost her debit card! This is the same kid who lost her car keys less than a month ago. She called around and she actually drove away from Tim Horton this morning without her card! So now we have to go retrieve the card on our way to the hospital tomorrow. What I can't figure out is how she can afford daily trips to Tim Horton but can barely keep up with her bills. SMDH. Thanks for letting me blow off steam!

She is literally slowly killing me. Plus, we push each others buttons all the time and having her here to recoup is gonna be a challenge to say the least. I love her with all my heart but sometimes....

Have a great Thursday.
When I was first diagnosed (1992) I went to one session with what they wistfully call a "Diabetes Educator", I left halfway through the meeting. They really have no idea. Once you get your routine down they can offer very little.

For the next 10 or 12 years I managed it by myself, with regular GP visits to get Hb1AC test - which always fell within the 'acceptable range. Once control started to become an issue I found a really terrific endocrinologist, so for the last 12 or so years my Hb1AC results have been between 5.8% and 6.8% (or if you prefer bang in the low to middle of the acceptable range).

From my perspective my diabetes isn't so onerous or hard to manage (as a Type II Insulin Dependant - IDDM). Normal healthy food, a bit of exercise and when I occasionally go off the rails, I take steps to get back to normal as soon as I can. This last bit is the secret, you need to go off the rails once in a while and have a life, you just need to be prepared and do a bit of penance for the misbehaviour!
