Moonshine WED @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is NATIONAL MOONSHINE DAY:

Every June 5 National Moonshine Day is observed. This beverage has a notorious record of blurring the lines of history and the law, turning ordinary men (and women) into criminals and common criminals into legends.
Moonshine traditionally is an illegally distilled spirit. Mostly made from a corn mash, moonshine is a distilled whiskey that is typically produced by an individual illegally without a permit. Also known as white lightning, mountain dew, homebrew, hillbilly pop, rotgut and too many more to list here.

The 5 O'clock Brewery/Winery/Distillery here at Ringville makes a mean Apple Pie Moonshine, and a Dreamscicle Moonshine and a Pumpkin Pie Moonshine :D That reminds me -- it's summertime so it's time for another batch of Dreamscicle Moonshine.....yummmmm.

Good morning Linda. I'm not a whiskey drinker, but enjoy the flavored shine now and then. Mike and Sylvia went to Nashville for the Buffett show and toured distilleries for a week. He LOVES that stuff.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good morning Linda, Bill, John! :)

No Moonshine for me. I've tasted a few, and ahhhh, NO.

It's also national Running Day. And that's another NO.

Some heavy storms this afternoon. And I'm off to that work place. :)

Good morning. There used to be a moonshine store about 4 or 5 miles from me, it closed a few months ago. I should take a ride and see if the store's still vacant or if there's a new business in there.

National Running Day? I was on the track team in high school but when I got to college I didn't join the team. After college I ran for a while just for exercise, never competitively. There was a time I ran 3 miles a day and one day a week I would keep going after I got to 3 just to see how far I could go. My high was 8 miles, took me about an hour. :o I had knee surgery in 1997 and since then the only running I've done was when I played softball. I stopped playing softball after the 2007 season and I've slowed to a walk since then.

Morning!

The one time I had moonshine, I don't remember a good chunk of the day.

Raining cats and dogs in my little part of Texas. All the poor parents and kids here for new student conference are soaked. Bookstore is selling rain gear and umbrellas left and right.
I must be wishing on someone else's star....

Morning BNers

We are getting sprinkles but parts of Houston is having high water rescues. Ugh

No moonshine here. I made some apple pie shine once. Took a couple of sips and dumped the rest later.
I have discovered that I don't like the taste of alcohol. If you cover it up like mudslide or pina colada, I good but don't like the alcohol taste.

I had an appointment to donate blood this morning and I took the long way home so I could drive by the old moonshine store. The sign outside says JACK AXE THROWING. Is that a thing now? People go someplace and pay money to throw axes?

When they stuck the needle in my arm, they didn't hit the vein on the first try. Or the second. Or ... It took 3 people trying before they got it in the vein (my record is 4). When the needle's already in your arm and they're digging around trying to hit pay dirt, it's quite unpleasant. But the blood flowed and I got my free cookies and apple juice.

Hi there! I had a very good retinal exam with vision improvement in both eyes. :D
We had a great Mexican lunch and drove into a blinding storm.
Larry spotting the axe throwing place has me fascinated and horrified. I have a near obsession with blades and own multiple axes and hatchets. With a bad throw, axes don't stick, they bounce...far!
I bet every thrower there mus sign a waiver.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Yep, axe throwing is a new thing. There’s a meadery in downtown Lancaster that has it.
