Good morning. It's supposed to be 76 degrees today.
I have to take a ride to the County Treasurer's office to pay my property taxes today. I have until Jan. 15 but I want to get it out of the way.

Morning BNers
Up and waiting for the pest people and the cable people.
Our varmint is still living in the attic. He still runs laps during the night. Have had the holes patched, so there is either another open spot or he doesn't leave. Not sure what he is eating....
And Spectrum stopped working yesterday. No idea why.

Re: First Friday of 2020 @ the MSC
Hi All,
Well Armageddon Saturday is here. The south-east corner of the country is gearing up for a fight. Unfortunately that fight will not be to extinguish the fires as that is impossible, the fight will be to stop loss of life.
Great swathes of the country have been evacuated, a lot of these areas are tourist areas in peak season so the effect is magnified and the evacuation effort has been massive.
The NSW Rural Fire Service deputy commissioner Rob Rogers warned that the fires could move "frighteningly quick" on Saturday due to the extreme conditions.
"We are unfortunately very likely to lose homes [on Saturday] but we will be very happy and call it a success if there are no lives lost," he said.
At Chez Rabz we are ok, we are not currently in the firing line, that could change of course.
If you have a moment, spare a thought for those who are about to face the brunt of this.
Our Prime Minister is some sort of pentecostal religionist. Apparently many who believe in such things are praying that he is taken aloft in a rapture, mostly to get him out of the way and so we get someone less ineffectual in charge
Edited to add some light reading from our national broadcaster:

I think of you and say a prayer for rain, a stop in wind, and and end to the fires whenever I see this on the news.Rabbitz wrote: ↑January 3, 2020 3:29 pm Hi All,

Hi there! While fishing, I wiped out in a muddy spot. BAM! I fell fast, driving my elbow into the mud. My jacket is waterproof, so I washed off the mud. On the way home, fog was so thick, I was afraid to drive, yet I passed 3 cars without lights.
Rabz, Best wishes for your country.

If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.
